We Must Speak The Truth About Nigeria Even If It Costs Us Our Lives - My Rant by Nobody: 1:35am On Jan 22, 2011
Nairalanders, please forgive my rants.

It's now weekend after a stressful week at work. Please allow me pour my heart's inner felt turmoil.

Maybe I should stop reading news about Nigeria or try to look for a small piece of good news coming out of our dear country to cheer my heart.

All I ever see or hear is misery, death as cheap as Gari, children with no future, churches now focused on business, mosques focused on mass killing, Christians and Muslims slaughtering each other like ram in Jos, our leaders either possessed by Satan himself otherwise totally oblivious to the plight of our dear brothers and sisters nationwide. Robbers wrecking lives, depriving livelihoods, ritualists on the rampage, children killing parents, parents killing children.

No, oh No, I can no longer keep quiet, the burden upon my heart is too great to bear, I have to talk, I must talk and from now on will do so even in public circles. I am tried of seeing such gross wickedness with no hope in sight.

Christians are now part of the problem and not the solution, our light is dim , our focus is on this world not on the after life , and so we cannot show true sacrificial love to our fellow man. Most churches are simply gambling centres and social meeting centres.

What must we do ?

Awake to Righteousness and stop sinning. Make a difference, Repent from our lying and corrupt way of life, show more love to our fellow man and SPEAK OUT AGAINST INJUSTICE,

This is not the end of my rant , I will continue tomorrow.

Good night all.

It could be worse, Frosbel. You reside in the UK, with the option to watch Nigeria implode on TV, as opposed to outside your own front door.

Pursue happiness and prosperity in Britian, thankful that you have that option. If the wet and cold UK weather starts to get you down, take a vacation to Ibiza, Spain, or relocate to Hawaii.

Unlike those who are stuck for good in Nigeria, the world is literally your oyster, and I say this with all sincerity. Life is way too short to be consumed fretting over that which cannot be changed.

@frosbel

Jakumo will provide your ticket to Nigeria, so that you can say all you need to say by the Aso Rock gate entrance.

Isale_gan will provide the microphone and speakers, so that all within 20 miles can hear your rants.

Ileke-Idi will provide the camera, so that someone can record what happens during your presentation. Then you can post the video on NL.

We are all behind you (spiritually).

@Frosbel,

Honestly, I understand those emotions so well. Been through them time without number, and my conclusion remains that Nigerians are the problem.

That is we, me, you and everyone. The difference here is that you feel the pain and need to speak out, living in the UK probably offers you the opportunity to see things even clearer from the pespective of what works and what doesnt.

Nigerians have been consumed by jealousy, hate and Greed, and that is the simple reason why Nigerians cannot succeed.

We have re-invented the meaning of certain key words, like right and wrong, like truth and lies. In Nigeria everything is gray, never black or white, just plain dull gray. In Nigeria a voice of reason is a voice of stupidity.

take for instance the recently run delta state elections that was widely accepted by the Good amongst us as a total fraud, but guess what even on here I had people on here suggesting that wasnt the case. some even suggested that is was ok to bribe people with 1000 naira for votes.

Then comes the PDP primaries and all the delegates money sharing

To be honest, I intend to do something about it, I really mean it. Not sure what yet, but when I visit home soon, I will have a better vision about this.

What our people need is education, not the education of maths and science which we are renown for, but the education of living a life of honesty, the value of life, the love and honour of fellow men made like us in Gods image.

To be fair I have seen people hold on to their integrity even in the midst of lack and poverty. For these ones, there is hope even though they dwell in the midst of wolves.

But tell me, with the proliferation of churches and mosques one would have thought that our people will be injected with more noble values, Instead they are fed with gibberish and garbage ( not all of them though ) and so cannot make any impact positively on society.

If Nigeria humbles itself and really worships God in truth , honesty and holiness, I sincerely believe hope is not far off.

But if we continue on this present path, Nigeria will be totally ruined.

Nice one frosbel, in Tunisia a jobless graduate had to set himself on fire to spark a revolution. Right now, while they struggle to get a better government, they are mourning people like him who died and you can bet his name will not be forgotten by the people. Lets hope Nigeria's spark is not so costly.
Re: We Must Speak The Truth About Nigeria Even If It Costs Us Our Lives - My Rant by sochan: 12:28pm On Jan 22, 2011
@Frosbel my bro,

We have lost the understanding of what is right and wrong. Simple.

it is the people, can you understand how parents would turn a blind eye to their daughter practicing prostitution, well as long as the money comes in, what about the folks that did not care if thier brothers were involved in 419, again as long as the money came in.

Whilst we may not know the exact reasons behind thier actions, in most cases it is greed.

Start with this, how can a deposed governor, fingered ina highlevel money laundering chagre be allowed to run for a top office?

I would beg you to leave it. It can cause health problems, you know? It's very sad, I know and I have gone through that every day. My heart bleeds when I see everything that comes out of my country of origin but what can we do? Nothing! Nigerians at home have to learn to hold their destiny in their hands. @Frosbel,

Nwanne coolu temper. I'm also here in UK in the grand stressful city of London. I want to relocate back to 9ja but keeping my fingers crossed on a stable power supply by year 3000 A.D when my flesh would've long ago been a rendezvous with the worms.

My brother, UK don tire person,  grin.

I wish we could say nowhere like home, but truly we cannot call Nigeria home at the moment because all the parents and children are fighting and killing each other, grabbling all they can lay their hands on and not caring if part of the family starves to death.

Nigeria is a very good example of a dysfunctional family.

You know my mind has starting going back to the east, I was in Imo state  2009,  and going back again in 2 months time. Maybe we should just invest back there and build it up from scratch, talk to our local leaders and plead with them to change their mindset for the betterment of their kindred.

Charity starts from home and if we lay a good example then the rest of the country might just follow suit.

Example :

Iraq - While Iraq is a violent and unsafe place to live, Kurdish province in northern Iraq, has been developed by the kurds , almost into a garden of eden like country.

Kurdistan

Iraq

Anyway as for me, my sights are set on home in the medium term.

Health problems I already have High BP living in the UK grin Just joking.

But on a serious note, if we all fold our hands and do nothing, then nothing will get done.

Someone , at a certain place at the correct time, has to rise up and make a bold decision to make a difference.

@Frosbel, we share the same feelings concerning that God forsaken entity. Charity does begin @ home so do good in Imo state and if you find somewhere else in Igboland where ur help can be needed don't hesitate to do something.

Is Nigeria worth saving? I say no. . .

I can only concern myself with my family.

Nigeria doesn't appreciate these so called "messiahs" or good leaders. Nigeria is a wicked place, where only the strong shall survive.

I get what you mean but please do not sacrifice your good life for some cabal or people that would demonize you in history. Things would be done gradually. You can start of by do things or building infrastructure (if you have the money) in a community and being detribalised. If everyone helps that way, things would gradually change. But sudden change? NO because you might regret it and the "people" you are trying to help might turn against you.

EzeUche aka Akanu has things to accomplish in the US so it will be quite moronic for him to leave his personal goals and ambitions and head back to Nigeria. Without acquiring those skills needed for nation building he will be nothing but a useless liability back home so its dumb to ask him to come back NOW.

Exactly! Some of these people will never learn. That is why we need to send many Igbo sons and daughters across to world and learn so we can improve our homeland.

Okay what do you suggest

That we all sit back ,and let that country implode ,which it most likely will if nothing is done quickly to sanitise that mad house called Nigeria.

The Police are thieves, the army are thieves, the leaders are thieves , in fact finding an honest person in Nigeria is like looking for a pin in a hay stack, not a needle, a needle is too big.

We have to start to pray and fast with repentance.

@ frosbel

Chai bros ,you took the words right out of my mouth.The truth is you are not careful ,you will give yourself heart attack. Many a time I wanted to pick up my computer’s monitor and smash it on the floor but thank GOD I restrained myself.

You asked for a solution? My solution is very simple but it requires serious and brave people as well as collective funding. I suggested here on Nairaland that we should start an online movement which could later on develop into a political party.

Some people said I was nuts. guess how many applications I received? = 12 applications from the more than 10000 people that frequent the politics section everyday?

Nigerians are too scared of the Government, nobody wants to die. Fela said it all in the Zombie song.

I am saying here again for everyone who loves Nigeria to read and partake.

LET US START A MOVEMENT HERE ON NAIRALAND:

I will sponsor the movement’s website free of charge. Membership is free. We will need some who is good at graphic design who can design our logo. I will also need a good web designer who can mange the cpanel and domain i will register. members will have a profile on the website with their photographs. No more hiding.

We can no longer be anonymous; we have reveal our real identities and make videos on youtube that our members can watch for moral inspiration. The movement must have recognizable leaders who will guide members. We also need some who is well informed in legal matters to help us develop our movements constitution.

I propose that the movement be named the :

Empowered Nigerian United Revolutionary Front = ENURF ( you know like enough is enough)

Empowered = Empowered by the people

Nigerian = Nigerian People’s Movement

United = Tribes united

Revolutionary = We seek change and to upstage the corrupt leaders

Front = A force to be a reckoned with or a formidable barrier against the status quo

______________________________________________________

I propose our motto to be = Discipline Before Governance

Or Discipline and Progress

I am open to better suggestions.

If we can muster up to 10,000 members or more and if we can post videos on you tube and CNN talking about the corrupt PDP and the political cabals; the government will have no choice but to meet with our representative and then we can make demands that will benefit the people. This is something we must commit ourselves to. I am ready if you are ready but we need more people.

Maybe we should create a thread where other people can sign up.
Dede1:

LOL, division will not solve our problems.Nigerians and Nigerian politicians/leaders have the same mentality regardless of tribe.Obasanjo is yoruba , Jame Ibori is ND ,Michael Aondoakaa is Igbo, Atiku is hausa.We need leaders with a progressive mentality first before we can talk of division otherwise we will have a bunch of uselesss countries which will even be worse off than Nigeria in a matter of 2 years.

Do you think that if Ojukwu had won the civil war ,he would have handed power over to democratically elected president? Common ,this Africa. Igbos would been eternally grateful to Ojukwu.He and his family would have used that advantage to rule over biafra like their own personal kingdom.Just by looking at the way he sucked up to abacha ,it shows that he is a leader that "could" have become a dictator (like mugabe and gadaffi) had he won the war.

You and i are the new generation ,we need to stop hanging on to the past and create our own solutions for the future. Whether Nigerians remain one country or divides we still need "Discipline Before Governance".
