Dear professionals, please am.thinking of making wardrobe but considering the kind of wood to be used.

How good is MDF for making wardrobe.

Though I am not a fan of MDF or HDF. I love good wood but the carpinter might not get it well.with wood.

Real wood is the best for the person that loves real natural finishings feelings, but most of our furniture man are just too lazy to work with wood to bring out the best of natural God gift to the mankind from the wood now.

Now artificial wood finishings has taken over I.e MDF, HDF ,Particleboard etc.

MDF; medium density fiberboard: / particle board: this is cheaper than HDF sold around 6k-7k per board of 4*8ft it comes in various colors but ITS NOT STRONG like HDF
It’s good for office furniture and few house furnitures like table, wardrobe where water and heavy usage are not required due to its Nature.

HDF; High Density fiberboard, this type of board sold around 11-12k per board 4*8ft, this type is very strong than others type of modern board due to its nature.
It’s good for both indoor and outdoor furniture work such as.

Doors,
Kitchen cabinet
Wardrobe
Chairs
Table
Tv shelves
Dining table set
Etc.

as rightly said, the natural wood is very good if you so desire it,

why do people avoid natural wood?

it's is streesful and labour intensive

it takes time to finish unlike MDF

it is more expensive considering you will need to polish for surface finishing

non availability of seasoned wood in most cases (you may need to dry out the wood for some days to get good finishing result)

YES! there are still good furniture makers that can still give the best finishing u crave (attached pictures have natural wood finished doors)


my advice:

the first two doors on the frist row are PINE doors, on the made with treated pine wood (parking case ), buying that will save you time, you can finish it to your desired colour.

you may use HDF for your wardrobes because of asthetics

all the same, You can get all you want with Hardwood and well finished....
