The entire 57-member emergency response team of the Buffalo Police Department has resigned after two members of the unit were suspended for pushing a 75-year-old to the ground during the George Floyd protests.

The resignations were confirmed by the police union and two law enforcement that spoke to The Buffalo News.

Two members of the tactical unit, which responds to riots and crowd control, were suspended without pay on Thursday after video emerged of the confrontation during the emergency curfew.

The development that the members resigned “out of support for the suspended officers, as well as the disgust with the admin”, was first reported by Spectrum News.


Buffalo Police Benevolent Association President John Evans said the officers were “simply doing their job” and the man “slipped” during the interaction, which was aired by local news WBFO on Thursday night.

“Our position is these officers were simply following orders from Deputy Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia to clear the square,” Mr Evans told The Buffalo News.

“It doesn’t specify clear the square of men, 50 and under or 15 to 40. They were simply doing their job. I don’t know how much contact was made. He did slip in my estimation. He fell backwards.”

the 75 year old man did not slip , he was pushed forcefully

a teenage protester also got concussion when the police pushed her so hard that she fell and hit her head on a curb

seen people whose faces were building profusely because they were shot with rubber bullets at point blank range

there's been videos and pictures of police pointing a teargas gun at a male protester who carried his daughter on his head


all these things show arrogance of the police in my opinion , you can't end madness with madness especially if you are a civil servant, pretend you understand and reduce the tension, but no ,... overdo is worrying them

This can only happen in setting where the law enforcement agencies really hold their job to high levels of accountability.

The day I attended the funeral of a young deputy Sheriff was the day I had a rethink about this police brutality allegations against cops.

The young white officer was short by a black man when he responded to a 911 call. He got there and yelled at the blackman who was running away after robbing a store to stop and show his hands. The dude turned and shot him in the head and he died leaving behind his wife and one year old daughter.

Just like black lives matter, policemen lives matter too. Yes there are bad eggs among them but think about the risk they take everyday on streets before misjudging them.
