So many things I learnt as I walk through the streets of survival
Hunting my dreams with weapons of courage and will power
And saving my injured feelings
By keeping my worries out of sight-

Real friends have become like a tree in a desert.
Foes now wear the faces of friends.
Their ears gladdens at the sound of my pains,
While their tongue carry my setbacks in mockery to lazy ears


Friends now walk the paths of rivals
Putting away shoulders for friends to lean on in times of weakness.
When their ears hear of my troubles and pains
Their eyes join me in crying but in mocking pity.

I am afraid to let my troubles into the ears of my pastors
For each time things fall apart in a man life's,
He points it to the Gods punishing him for his sins,
And he celebrates only the rich, for blessings is God's ultimate gift to the righteous.

As calamities knock on the doors of a man
He watches in tears as he dies in the thought of families
And he's buried in the hearts of kiths and kin
While his memories is erased from the minds of friends

So troubled man now walks with his troubles in his heart
While smiling at kids who masquerade themselves as friends,
But his heart drowns in the ocean of depressions.
And in a mountain of time, he weighs his options
And may take the coward step of bidding life goodbye.

Suicide rise not because times are hard;
Times has been hard even in the days of fathers before my father.
But true friends were there to walk with them when the night comes.
And families had a perfect ear to cage a man's pain.
