Breaking your phone screen can be a real pain. But the truth is, most people have been victims of a broken screen. According to a Sony Ericsson, a smartphone screen breaks every two seconds. This means that about 8 people's phone screen has been broken while tying this.

Keep reading I you want to know the cheapest place to get your broken screen fixed in Lagos. If not, stop reading now.

Are you tired of bad and expensive phone repairs?

Have you ever tried to get your phone broken screen fixed and it cost you more than you bargained for? Or you wasted money trying to get the broken screen replaced only for you to later discover that the replaced screen was fake?

Well, you are not alone. Most Nigerians have fallen victims of bad phone repair.

Before I continue, I would like to share my personal experience with a phone engineer in computer village.

My name is Oluwatosin Oginni. And like many Nigerians, I hustle hard to make my money. I currently make my living by selling on Facebook and Instagram. My vision and aim are to raise enough money by selling to enable me to rent a place and move to better accommodation.

Surviving alone in Nigeria is not easy, talk more of trying to feed my family (three children and one wife).

Due to the nature of my occupation, I am always on the internet and always in need of my smartphone.

The incident

On the 21st of December 2019, something happened that changed my life forever. This was the day I broke my iPhone 8 smartphone screen.

You see to others, this is not a big deal. But to me it is. If I don’t get the phone fixed fast, I and my family would starve to death. To me, repairing my smartphone is a top priority.

But there is something about me you should know: I budget a lot. Due to the nature of my profession, I need to ensure that there is stock available when a customer makes a request. So before I buy any goods, I remove the amount of money that I and my family would need to survive pending the time I sell the new incoming stock.

The disadvantage of this is that there is no cash available for unforeseen expenses.

When my phone screen broke, I had only N106,000 in my account. The purpose of the money was to pay my kids school fees in January. Breaking my smartphone means that I would need to divert some of the money to repair the phone.

Imagine the agony that comes with spending so much money on something that you did not budget for.

But I have no choice

6th of January 2020, I decided to go get my phone fixed in computer village.

You might be wondering why I choose computer village. Well, there is a saying “Any smartphone that cannot be fixed in computer village cannot be fixed anywhere else”.

When I got to computer village, I felt insecure. I kept touching my pocket every second to ensure that my money and wallet were still intact. After 15min, I finally entered a small dark shop. The engineer promised to repair my phone at a very cheap price. He also promised me that the replaced screen would be of good quality.

But there was a price to pay for it. He charged my N45, 000. To me, that was a small price to pay. All I wanted was to get back online.

After waiting for 1hour 28min, I finally got my iPhone back. I began smiling and thanking the engineer for his help and support.

Long story short, when I got back home, I noticed that the new screen was not properly working. It was not responding to touch command and it was also blinking. I tried to manage it but it became worse as the minute went by.

Two days later, I went back to the engineer that fixed the screen for me. On getting to the shop, I had to wait for 82 min before I could see the engineer. When I explained what had happened, the engineer stated that I needed to change my phone screen again. According to him, it was either I sat down on the phone or the phone fell down

This response made me get angry and I walked out of the shop

Why am I sharing this experience with you?

We have all had the sinking feeling of watching our phone screen brake- and then watch our bank balance plummet after taking it for repair in Nigeria. What makes this experience worse is that we spend lots of money to repair a smartphone only for us to be given fake parts by the engineers we suppose to trust. To me, this can be avoided if the right decision is made fast and early.

Let me use myself as an example, assuming I had this secret am about to share with you before I repaired my phone screen in computer village, I could have saved the N50,000 that was spent at the first place.

The purpose of sharing my experience with you is to ensure that you don’t make the same mistake I made. It is to also guide you to a place where you can get your phone fixed at a cheap price and you are sure that the replaced screen is original.

What I learned over the past few weeks is that I am not alone. I was having a chat with my close friend who stated that he had a component of his smartphone swapped while he took it for repair at a shop in Saka Tinubu.

If you talk to Nigerians, most of us have all had bad experiences trying to get our phone fixed. These experiences could lead to loss of information, time, and money.

Solution: how to get an affordable repair in Lagos

The solution to this entire problem is taking your smartphone to fixtel.

I am sure you are surprised by the solution. You are thinking, what makes this place different and better.

I taught the same also when I heard about them.

My experience repairing the phone

When I took my smartphone to Fixtel, I had doubts about using their services. I just decided to give them a try and see what their response would be like.

When I entered their office, I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who directed me to engineer Joseph.

I never felt more secure in my life. The environment was conducive, clean, and relaxing. I immediately taught the charges.

I am sure you would be laughing at me, but you cannot blame me. You see, we Nigerians are used to hardship so when we see a little comfort, we immediately assume that it would be expensive.

After discussing with Joseph, he collected the phone and ran a full diagnosis on the phone. He immediately told me that the replaced screen was fake and I would need to replace it.

How much would it cost me, I asked

N25, 000 he replied.

I was shocked.

I immediately told him that the screen he wanted to give me was fake.

He responded by telling me that they give a 3-month warranty on any part that is replaced.

To me, this was too good to be true. I had just spent N40, 000 to replace the same screen 3 weeks ago.

After much contemplation, I decided to give Fixtel a try.

The screen was replaced within 25min. I was really scared that it was also going to have the same problem, so I decided to check the screen before leaving the premises.

Joseph noticed that I was anxious; he immediately gave me a chair to sit down. He asked to check and confirm that the replaced screen was in good shape. He also stated that if I noticed an issue with the screen within the next 3 months, I should bring it back. He would replace it at no extra cost.
