So just now his dad came back with a strange animal i have never seen before and it seems they are planning to cook it

That's a pangolin. And rumour has it Covid-19 was spread through contact with it . If your friend and his family are stewpid enough to eat such an animal in times like this, then I suggest you stay away from them to avoid stories that touch or better still, report them to NCDC

Even China yesterday lifted the Pangolin out of their drug test list. The animal needs all the protection it can get, as it's a dying specie because too many people are killing them off, and it's the world most trafficked animal.
These ones just wasted a fortune.
That animal could've been captured, and they could've tried contacting some Chinese company to trade it.
They'll pay to take the animal because now it's under Chinese Government's protection starting yesterday.
