Seven persons attending a funeral ceremony have died in an auto crash on the Ogidi-Abatete road in the Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State.

It was gathered that the bus was conveying a family to a burial ceremony when it collided with the tipper lorry.

An eye witness who put the number of casualties at seven, said the tipper had a tyre burst, which resulted to loss of control and ramming into the bus.

He said, "No fewer than seven persons died on the spot while other passengers sustained injuries.

Mehn, burials always have some bad aspects of it.

Transporting corpse to village for burial always seems to be one of the most dangerous undertaken these days. I was going to PH one time by road and saw a bus on fire with a casket by the road side. I am sure those people were conveying the corpse to the village.

There has been many reports of unplanned and unimagined accidents happening at burials. That Nkpor, Ogidi, Abatete road is very narrow even though the road is in a first class condition - well tarred but too narrow and with a lot of sharp bends and bushes by the side that will make it difficult for amateur driver to negotiate to either side of the road in case of unforeseen circumstances.

Rest in peace people.
