Onyi22: Actually you are not erring in any way. A man can voluntarily choose to add any thing in form of a gift to the marriage proposal. Yes. When we look at it logically, he can add some of the things you listed and even more outside your list. After all most proposals end with a form of celebration of sorts when she says yes. The gift will only add to the excitement. I want to believe there have been men who bought cars and decorated them with "She Said Yes" tag. As a matter of fact, nothing stops the woman from also getting him a gift and keep it until the day he proposes. Then she hands him the gift. She could also buy him these things as well or even more. These are all possible, sweet and legally okay. These are all realistic scenarios. Both partners can be sweet enough to get each other something. However, we must also realize that marriage is not compulsory and I do not believe in the biblical origins and all that. The Bible to me is the Jewish account of creation,etc. My village people also have theirs and it is also as fantastic like the story of the beautiful garden, the talking serpent and the forbidden produce. Popularity does not imply correctness or accuracy or factualness. Also, realize that you do not need marriage to achieve anything in Life. Nothing. You can have kids, achieve greatness, etc. without marriage. Even if we go by the Bible, the greatest achievement in Christianity, which is eternal life. does not require marriage. So no. Marriage is over hyped. The only purpose it serves is to fit to people's idiosyncrasies and to create a fantasy induced happiness. When reality sets in, it breaks. So the question is how long are you willing to live in fantasy? Or how much are you willing to accept reality when the fantasy bubble bursts? I have nothing against it. But I see it the way it is. No garnishing and no self deceit. I don't believe in any special woman either. I believe there are over 10,000 women globally, that I can decide marry and live a happy and fullfilled life if I was into that type of thing. Finally, personally, even if with marriage in my next 1 billion reincarnations , I will never propose with a ring. I won't kneel and I won't have a white wedding. 1 Like |
