Available Position: Workshop Manager
Experience: 5years and above
Job Brief
The workshop manager will manage and lead a team of people in allocating workload and managing the day to day operations in the workshop. It requires the job holder to co-ordinate resources and liaise with internal and external key contacts to ensure work is delivered on time and to a quality standard.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Leads a group of at least 25 mechanics and helpers within workshop and other sites.
2. Performs trouble shooting and diagnostics procedure on Trucks and equipment.
3. Record observations and findings during diagnostics run and decide on the correct method of repair, as necessary.
4. Ensure that warranties are properly followed up, monitored, and documented.
5. Plan and organize Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) and delegate specific tasks to concerned mechanic
6. Hands-on supervision of all workshop activities, especially technical issues.
7. Forecast and order spare parts for specific jobs/special job or for stocks replenishment.
8. Supervise and follow up on actual progress of each individual repair job.
9. Provide on-the-job training as well as coaching and mentoring to mechanics and helpers.
10. Follow up repair order, registering the time taken to complete each task. Responsible for reliability and dependability by providing all fields with the technical assistance that they require from the Workshop.
11. . Attend the Weekly Departmental Meeting, Good knowledge about Trucks.
12. Conduct final check/test driving for all vehicles/trucks prior to release.
13. Support and full comply with Company and Departmental policies and procedures, Conduct any other task given to him by his HOL
Job Requirement
BSC/HND in Engineering (Mechanical).
Professional technical qualifications in the vehicle and equipment
Licensed Mechanic or equivalent, with a full range of licenses to operate equipment is an added advantage.
Skills/Competencies
Well-honed leadership and management skills; with an ability to motivate others. Hands on ‘real-world’ mechanical experience and knowledge. Highly computer literate (Microsoft Office). Excellent grasp of the English language: verbal and written. Sound judgment informed by extensive practical knowledge and experience. Innovative, inventive and analytical, able to pre-empt and resolve problems with ease. Agile, responsive and good under pressure. Able to handle conflict and resolve differences of opinion. Heightened cultural awareness – able to relate and build relationship.
