COVID 19: HOW YOUNG IGBO GRADUATES WITHOUT JOBS CAN SURVIVE.
------By Francis Okoye

This is meant for all Igbo young graduates without jobs. The graduates here also include Higher institutions , Secondary school graduates , even primary schools graduates.Also those in their 30-60 years of age can also benefit from this.

I am writing about Igbos only because I have lived for over 40 years in Igbo land and know about surviving here.

Campaign to empower 500,000 graduates in South East within 2 years.2020-2021

To survive as a graduate, you need to be able to feed , cloth and house your self and meet your basic needs and start your own family if you haven't yet. Jobs that are available in Igbo land for your type may include private school teachers who earn from N10,000 in villages to N20,000 in cities monthly with all the stress.Others like NPower jobs which pay N30,000 monthly.It is mostly because of this NPower beneficiaries that I set out to write this. Yesterday the federal government said that all the 500,000 NPower beneficiaries will be disengaged this month.They would be thrown back into the job market.

Now I want to introduce you to what our fore fathers did to survive no matter the bad economy.As a business consultant I know these would help you to survive and be self employed.

Have you ever considered agriculture.?
Let me give you an example.Do you know that if you plant 10 new breed palm trees in your compound,within three years it would start yielding palm fruits, each Palm tree could earn you N50,000 a year ?. The total expenses you would make in purchasing the palm tree seedlings would not be up to N8000.

You can breed the following Animals that don't need you to buy feed for them.Even N20,000 can be used to start on a small scale.
* Snail
* Grass cutter
* Rabbit

You can plant the following crops , even if you don't own land.They are several places in Igbo land like Igbariam etc .where you can rent land for as little as N10,000 per plot of land per year and farm.

You can plant this high yielding crops like
* Pine apple
* Cassava
* Maize
* Coco yam
* Yam
* Tomatoes
* Ugu
* Cocumber

You can combine one or two or three of the above named crops and plant in one farm plot.

Economic trees like the following can also be planted in your compound
* Ukwa
* Ukpaka
* Ogiri
* Oha
* Plantain
* Banana
* Coconut.
Green , Ugu ,Itazi, Onugbo can also be planted round your house.In my compound in the Village, we have planted about 15 plantains tress and some Onugbo plants for a Start.

I assure you that if you plant these items or selected ones , you may make even more than one million a year as profits and relocate to your village if you want to.
To plant or get the seedlings of most of the above may not cost you up to N400 per seedlings.
Advice
* Each Local Government Area in South East has an Agriculture office or department.They will help you with all the free advice and assistance you need to do any of the above.They also have several of the seedlings and seeds you can plant for sale at their office.
* Go to farmers in your area already doing what you want to do and learn from them.
* Join the State farming groups in your state where you will meet farmers who can advice and guide you to achieve your aim.
* You don't need to be the one that will do the manual labor of cultivating the land. You can hire laboures.
* If you are breeding Animals make sure your compound is fenced and secure the place against theft of your animals.

# SAY NO TO UNEMPLOYMENT IN IGBO LAND

# ACT TO END FUTHER INSULTS FROM OTHERS BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE MONEY
# SAY NO TO POVERTY BY YOUR ACTING NOW.
# IGBO AMAKA

# HELP RESTORE IGBO LAND KNOWN FOR PROVIDING ITS OWN FOOD IN THE PAST.
# BECOME AN AGRIPRENEUR TODAY .
