A Public Assaults On A Woman By Ifo LG Staffs In Ojodu Abiodun, Ogun State by Prophet777: 9:21am On Jun 22, 2020
It has always been everyday assaults, harrasment & extortion on the residents of Ojodu-Abiodun Area of Ogun-State by some Ifo-Local Government staffs said to be enforcing the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown policy put in place by the Ogun-State government. According to one of the residents who was once a victim namely: Joseph said, "I was driving towards the neighbourhood going to Justrite with my family to get some foodstuffs and my baby's food items, and this so called local government staffs looking like touts suddenly appeared from nowhere just like an ambush & stopped me. After much arguments like an interrogations my car was impounded and taking to their unit office. A sum of N30,000 was demanded after spending several hours in their Ojodu office and my car was released after paying a some of N15,000.

I (Operation) personally was once a victim, I was taking my wife (banker) who also is on essential service to work and my car was stopped, when the harrasment and the intimidation was too much. I put a call through to the D.P.O Ojodu-Abiodun division who intervene politely before I was released and the D.P.O later confirmed to me that the Ifo LG chairman has officially confirmed to him that they were actually on official duty but the residents should not hesitate to call him in any event of human rights abused emanating from this controverrsial LG staffs who could not even provide an ordinary identity card whenever the residents demanded for it.

In response to this viral online video, below is the statement issued by the LG government chairman.

"The attention of the Office of the Transition Chairman, Ifo Local Government, Ogun State has been called to a viral video that suggests a case of assault on a lady at Ojodu Abiodun Area of the Local Government.

It came as a rude shock to me, when I saw the video of one of our officials enforcing the lockdown order with gross inhumane attitude.

His attitude does not portray the humane nature popularly preached by Ifo local Government.

On this note, I am suspending all officials involved without pay, until further notice.

Rest assured, the public should be aware that all hands are on deck on this issue and whoever is found guilty will be dealt with decisively.

Meanwhile, as at the time of this release, the primary official involved has been arrested.

E-signed:
Hon. Fola Salami
Transition Chairman,
Ifo Local Government.
