The long awaited ios 14 will be rolling out in it's beta os in a couple of hours for developers and subsequently public users. Some of the features include
1. A much more smarter sịrị.
2. A redesigned home screen with new user interface.
3. Picture in picture display.
4. A revamped imessage and memoji.
5. A less intrusive call interface (took a decade for this feature to come but better late than never).
6. Ability to use a much more customizable widget in the home screen....and many more!

Also the watch os7 will be rolling out soon with sleep tracking, water feature which reminds you to wash your hands regularly as part of the covid 19 safety measures, your watch can actually listen to running water near you (talk about innovation).

You are right. The make thier custom soc so expect seamless transition between hardware and software.

I watched the announcement event on YouTube and I was impressed
Siri-still dummer compared to Google assistant and alexa, although I love the new interface at the bottom of the screen it's the least intrusive I've seen.

Animations-when it comes to fluidity you can't except less it's still smooth.

Home screen-it's not much of a redesign apart from the widgets which isn't much of a big deal, although I like the smart widget,the rest like the grouping are at the far end of your home screen so it's still not a complete ui redesign.

Less intrusive call interface-not a big deal it's been on Android for long,it's also been on iOS if you jailbreak it.

Picture in picture-That's something i felt was dumb iOS didn't have it.They finally brought it,but of course they made it seem new typical apple.

They copied some of Android ideas but unlike Android that copies iOS ideas in there next os release,IOS waits for years before releasing it and make it seem new.

This is not a version patch/update, it's a completely new ios version.
