We often see our smartphones as a secure digital haven. Some even go to the extent of storing notes containing their passwords on their phones thinking that it is safe. Let this be clear. There is no device as at now that is unhackable!

Here are some signs that your smartphone has been hacked:




You find new apps on your phone that you haven't installed:

Sometimes a phones manufacturer or service provider can actually install apps during systematic updates. But it's better to be safe than sorry. Google these apps to check their authenticity. Leave no stone unturned.

Some apps stop working like they used to.

Your phone starts running out of battery faster than usual. This can be because some unknown app is running in the background.

Your phone is slower than normal.

Your phone gets hot even if you aren't using it. Again, this is because an unknown, unauthorized app is working your phone overtime.

Your phone reboots itself, switches off, Dial's numbers or starts application on its own.

Unknown phone numbers appears in your recent calls.

Your phone sends and receives messages you know nothing about.

You cannot switch off your device.


There are noises or echos during calls. This is because a third party is listening in on your conversation providing another environment the phone picks up alongside the person you called and relays back to you.

Websites appear different than before in your mobile browser.

Increased data use.

Pop-ups start appearing on your device out of nowhere. They might say that you have won a new iPhone or a certain amount of money. Don't do what they tell you to do.

Emails sent from your phone are blocked by spam filters.

You cannot make calls or every time you try it gets cut off.
