The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) and APC governors are major stakeholders that will determine the party’s new national chairman, Saturday PUNCH has learnt.

Sources close to party stakeholders said the governors had agreed to work together and reach a consensus on who would pilot the affairs of the party.

One of the governors, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “It was a tough decision to sack the NWC led by Oshiomhole. Some governors owe their coming to office to him but some of us believe that we had to take over the party and exert our authority before the party would be finally hijacked by an individual.

“We couldn’t sit by and allow the ambition of a few persons to destabilise the party we all suffered to build. The chairman was unilaterally taking decisions on sensitive issues with a few individuals, even without carrying the President along.

“We could not wait till 2023 before taking a decision. Waiting for long would spell doom for us and the party.”

The source added that the caretaker committee members had been saddled with the responsibility of taking a decision on the zoning formula to be adopted in allocating offices among the six geo-political zones, including whether the next national chairman would still come from the South-South.

Our correspondents learnt that while some members of the party would prefer the continuation of the old zoning formula, others had been advocating adjustment.

The source added, “When Chief John Odigie-Oyegun was removed as the national chairman, they brought Oshiomhole from Edo State. But when Otunba Niyi Adebayo from Ekiti State was appointed as a minister, those who want to control the party by force argued that the position of the National Vice Chairman, South, was zoned to the entire South-West and unilaterally appointed the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi from Oyo State. Is that fair? They think we don’t know what we are doing?”

The Buhari Aso Rock cabal who are mainly the CPC wing of APC have their own political move playing out, they will also checkmate the APC governors influence on the party in the coming months.
They will fully hijack the party structure during APC convention in December to elect the new NWC

Tinubu and his ACN wing of APC will realign with Atiku and PDP ahead of the 2023 election, the governors under APC will be become disgruntled by the cabal trying to impose a presidential candidate on them to for 2023 and will also dump APC enmasse with their supporters.

Nigerians should watch out for the name Baba Gana Kingibe ahead of 2023 , he is the cabal projected one for 2023, they will try to force him as APC candidate, but the APC Governors will try to reject him, and the governors will leave APC in large numbers as 2023 get near.

What will Acn offer to warrant such alignment?Don't say votes..An Acn without ondo and ekiti is weak..They are left with just ogun,Lagos and parts of osun

There are no permanent enemies in politics.
We are not saying the ACN and PDP will merge, but they will only align to support one particular candidate to produce election numbers to win election

Don't forget the APC was a merger of ANPP, CPC (a major bloc), ACN and part of APGA led by Okorocha

A United APC only narrowly beat PDP in 2019..

Now we have an APC that's about to get fragmented because they feel the need to stop one man named Tinubu; when infact a lot of them only benefited from the Buhari/ Tinubu alliance.


I know you really don't think that APC can beat PDP without carrying Tinubu and this people along.

You only think that PDP has got a better chance of taking over the more Tinubu gets maligned.

The thought of retaining power in the North was never really an intention of the APC.

But the APC are no fools.

The body language of the PDP is to zone their presidency to the North in 2023 by every means necessary.
They are more concerned with grabbing power than adhering to power rotation.

APC only have to play smart and match whatever PDP does.

Tinubu has almost become the common enemy of the PDP and the APC.

APC could never sort this out.

PDP most likely takes over in 2023.

It seems apparent now that the entire country would prefer that power goes to Atiku or Kingibe like you said;

I don't think Acn can produce the required number of votes needed.They are already divided.Ekiti and ondo will never ever want any tin to do with an Acn headed by tinubu.Same as some part of osun loyal to aregbesola.They will reject Acn as well.Acn is left with only two states Ogun,lagos and maybe some part of osun.
