Nigeria has been excluded from the list of countries whose travellers could be received into Europe when the borders reopen on July 1 .
Schengenvisainfo . com reported that the European Union Commission released a list of 54 countries that qualified for travels into Europe as the union opens its borders that were shut to contain the spread of COVID - 19 .

The commission said that citizens of Brazil , Qatar , the US and Russia would only be able to enter Europe at a later date when the epidemiological situation in these countries improves .

The countries from which travellers are permitted to enter Europe are listed as Albania , Algeria, Andorra , Angola , Australia , Bahamas , Bhutan , Bosnia and Herzegovina and Canada.
Others listed are China , Costa Rica , Cuba , Democratic People ’s Republic of Korea , Dominica , Egypt , Ethiopia , Georgia , Guyana , India , Indonesia , Jamaica, Japan , Kazakhstan , Kosovo , Lebanon and Mauritius.
More countries include Monaco, Mongolia , Montenegro , Morocco , Mozambique , Myanmar, Namibia , New Zealand , Nicaragua , Palau , Paraguay , Rwanda , Saint Lucia , Serbia , South Korea , Tajikistan , Thailand , Tunisia , Turkey , Turkmenistan , Uganda , Ukraine , Uruguay, Uzbekistan , Vatican City , Venezuela , Vietnam and Zambia .

The EU Commission spokesman, Eric Mamer , said the union had the right to choose who would enter its borders .

“ The European Union has an internal process to determine from which countries it would be safe to accept travellers ,” he said, adding that it was “ based on health criteria . ”

On June 11 , the commission presented its recommendation on the reopening of internal Schengen borders on June 15 , so that Europeans could travel within the borderless area freely , just as they did pre -pandemic .

IT IS A GOOD NEWS FOR NIGERIA AND ITS CORRUPT LEADERSHIP.

Let the leaders who help ruin our economy go and build the country.

The west is also working towards removing Nigerians from AFDB.

The country deserve what it got.

THE ONLY ANSWER TO ALL THIS PROBLEM IS FOR GOOD LEADERSHIP TO BE EFFECTED IN NIGERIA.

When the western countries see that Nigeria is developing and making vibrant economic progress they will lift all this sanctions.

WHY MUST OTHER COUNTRIES BUILD THEIR NATION FOR NIGERIANS TO COME AND ENJOY LIFE THERE?

You want us to believe the decision to exclude Nigeria was based on health, when over 80% of Countries on the list of those allowed into Europe have more recorded cases and death than Nigeria.

This is not about how many cases you Nigerians think you have; it is about how many cases the west think that you Nigerians have.

Buhari and Tinubu's government failed to shut down the Nigerian border when every Nigerian was clamouring for it.

Nigerian will now have to pay the price for this government's huge incompetence and lackadaisical way in dealing with serious matters.

Can you imagine GEJ's government being this incompetent?

I heard they did not shut the border because one of the president's daughter was abroad. They had to wait for her to finish what she was doing, instead of telling her to suspend whatever she was doing and return home.

They put our lives in jeopardy for the sake of one person.

Yea, some of the papers are online with few that needed physical presence. But the truth is that everyone want to finish his or her program as soon as possible.

That's how it usually goes. The west manufactures a new disease, soon enough it spreads to Africa. Then they control the disease in their own countries, Africa struggles to control it too, but fails.
Before long, the disease naturalizes in Africa and assumes an African identity. And then the west begin their subtle discrimination of Africa, while throwing handouts and intervention funds at us every now and then.
It's happened several times before, that's how all these so called "tropical diseases" came about.

This particular disease is made in China. It was manufactured in the west.

this is the result of inflating covid19 figures without thinking twice, we are having high cases and no right thinking country can accept Nigeria at the moment because of the high rate of cases been recorded daily. well it's for the elites to have a rethink, No place like home lets put hands together and build Nigeria. it's our country and our mother land but they won't hear from developing Europe and America now is Dubai, well UAE will welcome the elites.

Nigeria != Africa. The US, and even Brazil is on the list... that’s not Africa. And meanwhile, Angola, Ethiopia, Morocco, Algeria, Uganda, Egypt... these countries have been allowed to board... so don’t make a fuss about this.

But when those countries where having high infection rates and high death rates, Nigerian government was accepting them and boasting they are prepared for COVID 19. So by your explanation, it means the Nigerian Government is NOT a right thinking government. You are hereby given an A+ in this course, your GPA is 5.0. Congratulations grin

There are more than 10 African countries on that list granted access to Europe.

NCDC continue increasing the number, Infact 2000 cases per day. Very soon all countries will reject you people from coming in because of your selfish interest.

Are we really learning anything? In 2014 when there was Ebola outbreak, out of carelessness in our airports, the index case then snicked in from Liberia. Again due to our carelessness in 2020, Convid-19 index case snicked in from Italy.
In both cases, people died and suffered what they know nothing of and could have been avoided.
Another crisis will still arise in time to come and hope the people in the airports will not be so gullible and careless to make the nation suffer again.

What did I say. Our poor handling of this pandemic from Day -1 will mean we will be one of the last countries to solve it and we will be a pariah nation in the interim. Just read my posts on this matter as far back starting February.

Not only will we be locked out from most parts of the civilised world for a season but anyone from tourists who come here to investors who visit on business will be affected. It will be hard for them to return home. At a period where we need all the resources and help available.

To say that this government has turned a major problem into a hydra headed one is an understatement. Just poor quality leadership and governance through and through.

What this government sees at the scene of the accident is what I personally envisage 100 kilometres from it. Folks, we need visionaries and thoroughbred intellectuals handling the affairs of this complex country if we are ever going to get it right. We have dined with sentiment for 50 years and never seen a better tomorrow.
