Pornography is a soul killer. It is an ever present reality for many people and married couples aren't exempted. Many couples feel the need to switch or spice things up in the marriage and have discovered that watching porn together increases their enjoyment of their sexual relationship. But how does God view pornography in marriage? We know that lust is condemned in Scripture (Job 31:1; Matthew 5:28), but if the sexual relationship is limited to a husband and wife, is it wrong?

One of the most obvious reasons why people watch porn is because the motivation is lust and this is a sin. Lust is an overwhelming desire for something God has forbidden (Proverbs 6:25). If seeing the unclothedness of other people is requited to desire sex with one’s spouse, then that is lust. To watch pornography is to invite sin into our bedrooms. It allows the enemy to infiltrate our thinking, damage our hearts and turn dirty what God calls “very good” (Genesis 1:26-31).

A great verse to look at when exploring this question is 1 Thessalonians 4:3-7 which says, “It is God’s Will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.” This was not only a call for those in Thessalonica, but a call for us, a call that we can apply to our marriages. God calls us to holiness and pornography is unholy.

No sir. It is not appropriate.

First, they're watching porn actors and actresses, hereby indirectly encouraging the porn industry.

Second, the people in those movies are not married to each other and they're doing porn, and it's wrong.

Third, those actors and actresses take stuffs, drugs and all, some of the time, so they can perform. Watching that will put you under stress trying to perform like them.

Fourth, they do a lot of disgusting things in porn: anal sex etc. Is that what you want to practise on your wife?

Fifth, there are a lot of unrealistic expectations people get from watching porn. You may discover your wife may never be able to satisfy you; you may resort to going for other women.

Six, sex is private. You can attend godly seminars or read Godly books on sex, or meet a counselor who is open enough to advise the couple. However, someone else demonstrating how to have sex Live, and you're watching, it's not good.

Finally, consider the impact those videos will make on your mind. When you get to pray or have your devotion, you may end up battling with images of other men/women that are not that of your spouse. It may not even augur well for your relationship in the long term.

I've watched pornography too, but most times I wish I never did

The Scriptures the first poster above me quoted will suffice.

God bless you.
