Why should it be so SA oga minister, other country like Republic of Benin, Cameroon, Ghana are back in school preparing their students for exams, why should Nigeria be exemptional with all the billions of naira you said you have set aside to fight Covid-19.
Pls don't destroy the future of our talented and skillful children because of your incapability.

The Northerners have no stake in education in Nigeria.Just look at Adamu of a man!
This is what our President can give us,a Minister of education who believed more in lockdowns-no dynamic ways of doing things, but if for elections there is more money for politicians, more money for Elections, while our children are locked down in the house. Those who were successful in this year JAMB,do not know their stand, because, the Minister wants to tell us he cares. Is Nigeria the only country with Covid-19 in Africa or in West Africa? Tufiaka!!!

First, FG only exempted FG schools.

Others can go ahead.

Second, for speculating another lockdown, you deserve to be slaughtered by Boko Haram.

Kindly imagine these scenarios.

How would you allow your junior to finish before you?
How would you allow your junior to finish at the same time with you?

Their region we know is bedevilled by illiterates called book haram, they should not turn the other part of the country into illiteracy zones

It takes Only one infected student to infect the whole school. There is no way students will not have contact with each other. I can remember how I contracted measles back then in secondary school. The scar is still on my body. The solution to covid-19 is to discover the vaccine and vaccinate everybody.
away from that, learn how to create whiteboard animation videos. chat me on 0-9-0-3-1-1-10-1-2-5-6. The more you learn, the more you earn. knowledge is power
as for vaccine if it arrives today, you won't get it till 3 years to this time, those law makers will first hijack the vaccine for themselves and their families, the rest go be black market runs...

Unbelievable!
The implication is unimaginable.
Two opposing decisions within 48hrs from the same Government representatives. Meanwhile,
Schools in Oyo state have started.

Parents have paid for this exam, please let them sit for this exam please.
A whole year is going to be wasted.

Phycologically, it is like there is a disagreement among the leadership.

Where are we going?

Which way Nigeria?

I don't think it will stop Ghana and other West African countries from conducting the exam.
The way the government here is going about it, it would seem there is a miracle that they are waiting for come 2021! Or are they waiting for a vaccine that is yet to be released? The virus is not letting up going by the global trend, it is instead surging. So in the absence of a vaccine, are we going to remain standstill?
It is not just enough to push this schedule till next year as if there is some kind of assurance that 2021 will automatically bring an end to the pandemic. If at this rate it is not safe, will it be safe when the figures climb higher as it is going now? I wanted to hear this is what we are doing, this is our target, and we hope to achieve this target before we............ Nothing of such, they just come on the air and make an announcement without giving any hope, but leaving everyone with a foreboding thought of no hope. This is not leadership. Have they really sat down to think of the implications?
Sorry, with our snail pace testing we are going no where unless there is a divine intervention. This is sad. Another test of what it takes to be a responsible nation. Some are happy with the flat decision as if it left them with a hope that at so and so time we will implement our plan B. What a country!
With your bolded above, going by their modus operandi do you think it is only one year that be wasted? Hope ours does not become something else.

The government cannot work without the people. I'm not holding brief for the government but in this COVID 19 issue, the bigger problem lies with the people. All over the world, government efforts are only as good as the people make it. Here, it's all about denial of the existence of this disease, Conspiracy theories, outright lies and unbelievable cynicism..It is gut wrenching..I never believed Nigerians can so gamble with their own very lives..It only shows how dehumanised they have become..I'm really concerned at the society we have evolved to, if people can treat their own lives with so much carelessness, how much less value are they going to attach to that of another? Does that explain the unending gory news we wake up to daily in these parts?

Your concerns are worthy of a national broadcast. Indeed, we can't shy away from the fact that people are foolish and careless. It is a really scary situation.
I also believe education should evolve as COVID 19 is here to stay for a long time.
This COVIDIAN era will see the extinction of some policies and practices. Education is currently an endangered species

Every government is clueless on COVID 19. Countries have eased and reintroduced lockdowns. Many governments are experimenting..We hope it doesn't linger. Government should begin now to plan what protocols to observe if it continues till next year..Some suggestions...Boarding school may have to be abolished, schools may operate in two or three sessions daily, the schools decontaminated after each session, each session may last for only 6 hours, Saturdays may be included to cover what time may not permit.etc..there has to be a firmly established protocol for this. It would be published and sent to every school. These are strange times.
people have different opinions to this problem, your suggestions are OK and with these I think we will go along way to solving the problem.

Nice one from the ministry, how do you expect students and schools to prepare in less than a month with schools being shut for 3 months plus. if not for the sake of the teachers I would say they should resume schools next year just like Kenya.

Sincerely I don't see how students will pass the exam particularly students in government schools without online resources to learn for the past three months....

Even if you learn on your own at SS3 how do you ascertain that you're correct...
The exam would only have favoured the Brilliant and Buoyant ones it would have been a nightmare for the not so brilliant ones... so it's a good move.

They should have managed it better by ensuring strict compliance to COVID-19 guidelines in all schools involved in the exam.
They still have another chance to write NECO at a later date since NECO is under the control of Nigeria.
