No one told me that unemployment is the getway to emotional turmoil.

No one told me that it will leave me gasping for air at 2. am in the night when the random thoughts of all the debts I have incurred assail my inner mind.

No one told me it will leave me feeling worthless, unloved and lonely.That it will test my patience, my faith and my hope.

That it will make me question my sanity, my academic values and all the things that I am possibly not doing right.

No one told me about the crushing sadness that follows a job rejection. The despondency that accompanies the silence of job applications.The burgeoning pain of going through cumbersome interviews and never getting as much as a “we are sorry to inform you”. Just deafening silence that leaves you wondering where you went wrong.

No one told me how i’d ogle at clothes, foods, shoes and all other pretty things on Instagram without being able to pay.

No one told me how I would have to pass on partial scholarship opportunities to further my education because I don’t have the financial capacity to support the study. And how painful, because employers often emphasize on these academic accomplishments!!!

No one told me how the frantic search for jobs will leave my eyes weary from staring at my screen too long,my fingers burning from typing too many emails, and my heart empty from never getting any positive outcome regardless of my best efforts.

No one told me that being unemployed is much more than being financially incapacitated. That it tears at your self esteem, strips you of hope and optimism and leaves you feeling worthless!!!

No one told me that unemployment will make me give up on myself.

unemployment is more of a mindset thing. start any business, no matter how small it is.

well, I am not too familiar with all the segments in naira land. I only just write under "diaries". This is my second time posting under "literature". Would it be ambiguous if I post this under poetry too?

I like it and I ask my js 2 daughter and writer to read through for source of inspiration. Her verdicts : No one told me that, no one told me that and on and on.
