Manchester United midfielder won and scored a penalty against Aston Villa within the half at Villa Park Manchester United maintained their winning hoping for Champions League qualification with a snug 3-0 victory over Aston Villa.
Goals from Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood and Paul Pogba sealed the 3 points for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Squad, as Villa struggled to get a glove on the Man United.
Manchester United broke the Villa's defender at half as Fernandes won a penalty following a clash with Villa defender Ezri Konsa.
The Portuguese Republic midfielder received a pass on the edge of Villa's Penalty area and spun when Konsa challenged for the ball.
Referee Jon Moss" pointed to the spot and a Video assistance reference VAR review seemed to show Fernandes catching Konsa with his trailing leg 1st.
However, the referee and the Video assist reference stood on a decision to awarded the penalty and Fernandes was awarded a penalty sent the spot kick to award United the lead.
Former United defender Patrice Evra didn't feel the penalty ought to have stood as Fernandes's momentum took him into the defender. "My opinion is it's not a penalty," he told Sky Sports at resting time (half time).
He said; The defender is being a touch bit clumsy due to his right leg he's attempting to stop Bruno. "I simply feel like Bruno Fernandes went to his leg and he gave the penalty.
If you look into the replay Bruno Fernandes stopped the ball and went into his leg however it was too late. i feel it shouldn&apost be a penalty."
Rival supporters took to social media to question why the penalty was given after Fernandes seemed to stand on Konsa's leg at penalty area.
