Almost five months after the country confirmed its first case of the pandemic on February 27, 2020, about 709 Covid-19 associated deaths have been recorded, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease control. This figure is not inclusive of the Nigerians who died in diaspora.

However, a lot of prominent Nigerians, cutting across different spheres have been casualties. Here are some of them;

1.Abba Kyari
Abba Kyari , the Chief of Staff to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is the most prominent Nigerian to have died of coronavirus. He died on Friday, April 17.

2.Abiola Ajimobi
The immediate past governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, died on June 25 following complications arising from the pandemic .

3.Senator Adebayo Osinowo
The senator representing Lagos East Senatorial district, Adebayo Osinowo died on Monday, June 15, 2020 at 65 years of age . He was reported to have died of COVID -19 complication in one of the isolation facilities of the Lagos State Government .

4.Aminu Adisa Logun
Aminu Adisa Logun, was the Chief of staff to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State until Tuesday, July 7, when he died of COVID-19 complications.

5.Hon. Wahab Adegbenro
Wahab Adegbenro, The commissioner for health in Ondo State, died of COVID- 19 complications on Thursday, 2nd July 2020. Mr Adegbenro died at the states infectious disease hospital where he was receiving treatment.

6.Tunde Buraimoh
He was a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly. He died on 10th July 2020

7.Hon. Umar Audi Jauro
He is a member of the Borno State House of Assembly. Reports from the state quoted sources as confirming that the deceased lawmakers died due to the pandemic.

8.Hon.Wakil Bukar
He is also a Borno State House of Assembly.

9.Alhaji Suleiman Adamu
Adamu is a lawmaker representing Nasarawa Central constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly. His death is linked with the Covid-19 virus.

10.Shuaibu Danlami
Shuaibu Danlami, a Director for special services and politics at the office of the SSG , Gombe State and a member of the state taskforce on COVID-19 died of the virus on May 31.
