Often time. Kwarans always found themselve confuse about where they truly belong to. Are they the hausa nigeria take them to be or the yoruba which they belive they are. Lets have your view

I can see you the confused one here. How on earth could the Indigenous People of a 'state' as old as Kwara be confused about their identity?

Grab a book on Kwara's history.

geographical location should not mix up with cultural heritage majority of kwarans are yorubas with minority hausa , fulani and nupe so no any confusion okay
Re: Kwarans: People With Mixed Culture by Nobody: 1:20pm On Feb 05, 2011
@poster majotity of kwarans are yoruba only in the northern part of the states are tribes like nupe and bariba. The fulanis are just settlers just like in saki, kishi in oyo state. Geographically kwara is in the middle belt, culturally majority of kwarans are yorubas.
Re: Kwarans: People With Mixed Culture by olawalebabs(m): 1:50pm On Feb 05, 2011
@femojie. If thats the case, why are they more associated with the hausas than the yorubas
Re: Kwarans: People With Mixed Culture by Nobody: 1:58pm On Feb 05, 2011
@Olawale: It's only one fool who call himself olusola saraki that is claiming to be fulani or whatsoever. But the fact is majority of ilorin indigines are moslems thereby confusing people outside to think they are hausas. Ilorin is not kwara, ilorin is just a town .
Re: Kwarans: People With Mixed Culture by vanitty: 6:58pm On Feb 06, 2011
I am nowhere near confused. I am yoruba
Re: Kwarans: People With Mixed Culture by step1: 8:09pm On Feb 06, 2011
Me I am form kwara infact illorin to be precise. I am a born breed of Yoruba to the bone, we are considered northerners but I consider MYSELF and my people as south-westerners anyday anytime.

I am not confused neither are the fulani or hausa people would confuse us as northerners, they know we are yorubas and that is that. Why will an hausa or any northerner call me a fulani or a northerner. Why will any yoruba man from kwara consider himself as a northerner or a fulani, it is insane.

For all my kwara brothers and sisters out there, the sooner we unite with our other yoruba brother, the better it is for us to retain our identity as a south-westerner and as yorubas. The hausa/fulani are just using us to inflate there population so as to retain power for themselves.

Our so-called political leaders in Kwara are the 'confusionists', they believe associating with the hausa/fulani will earn them better political power, influence and respect among the other Yorubas.

I mean how can he call himself a fulani when his father and sister are claiming otherwise. The man is a real naughty person.

Kwaran show how more confuse they are in the recent poll, though they did not follow their northern brother as expected, neither do they take to their western brothers too, the earlier they identify where they belong, the better.

So you are not claiming your identity because you really want rather it is because it is political naive not to do so?.

Kudos to Kwarans. Irrespective of the fact that Kwara is a melting point of different ethnic groups, yet they do not engage each other in barbaric fights as witnessed recently in Plateau state.
Kudos to Nupes, Fulanis, Offas, Ilorins etc.

But would that be the case if the Fulani had no power?

The Fulanis do not dominate politically. I think it is 50-50. Cornelius Adebayo, gov during the second republic was Yoruba.
The Fulani's may be in control now but not always.
Anyway, it is good there is peace in that state between the ethnic groups there.
