I know I let my guards down. So there was this lady who I would call Miss T. She was introduced to me by her senior sister who I knew through a facebook group. Since I told her I needed a girl for a serious relationship, she said she will link me to her younger sister in Akungba, Ondo state.

So, fast forward to when I began speaking with Miss T, she agreed to come to see me in Lagos but complained of not having enough for transport. So due to the recommendation i got that she was a good lady, I sent her N11, 000 as transport.

So after sending her this money, only for her to call me on the eve of the day she was supposed to come. that one of her relative was ill. So I just had this feeling that this was too coincidental to be true.

So I tried to cajole her to return the money since I sensed she was trying to play smart with me. She said no problem. That I can send my account number, which I did. After waiting for 3 days, I chatted her up on whatsapp that I'm yet to see any alert from her. Only for her to tell me she needs money for now.

So I said she is supposed to keep her promise of returning it, after which, she blocked her on whatsapp. I contacted her senior sister who linked us and her response too wasn't satisfactory to me.

So I'm really bitter with how the whole episode played, any chances of me recovering my money? just pained why someone will block me on top of my money. Please help.

Yes you can get your money back, How easy it would be, depends on when you sent the money though. I know the value might seems so small but it's not about the value but the fact that this scammers are destroying the Nigeria Brand and we're all emboldening criminals that will destroy us all in the nearest future.

There is a CBN policy on this and the process you can use is called funds recall. Send an email to your bank if this was done within the last 14days there will be a hold on the account for the said amount. It is more easier if its within the same banking infrastructure. If it was over 14 days the bank auditors will have to mediate and if you don't like the resolution you can then report it as fraud to your nearest police station then take a copy of the police report to the bank and there would be a hold on the BVN number.

I hope this helps you and many others in future

If you want to educate yourself you can find a link below to the CBN policy for further reference.

In my opinion, what the OP experienced cannot be categorized as fraud because there was mutual consent and no force or cajoling was applied.

OP willingly transferred the funds but the recipient had 'an unforseen occurrence' which made her coming impossible, unfortunately, the funds were applied by the beneficiary to 'save a life'; that's the story.

A good example: Can you sue or follow up on a case where someone fleeced you of your hard-earned money by promising you fixed matches? Think about it.

@OP: Like most people mentioned, you have been scammed, just forget about the money and move on.

Some of us have fallen for this scam before, it would only make you wiser.....that was many years ago anyway.

It baffles me that matured man will depend on a woman to get him a girl friend. Is it that you can't approach girls in Lagos? Are you not matured enough to talk to a woman of your choice? So there are no decent girls in the whole of Lagos? I don't understand. Well, my advice is to forget about the money and move on. It doesn't worth your time.

I think a serious guy should visit a girl first. why can't u visit her first? no lady should even visit a man she is yet to know. let him come first . for your money, see it as charity and move on. her relative is sick. she may return your money after taking care of your relative.nobody scams you.

Oga ade, the truth is you never needed that particular girl for any gaddam serious relationship. You were bored and needed someone to have a frolicking time woth for the moment.

if you really needed someone for a serious relationship, you wouldn't have had a kind of discussion thay would led to you sending Tfare, which at the end, our of disappointment, you scamper for refund.

It's actually bad
But you can recall your money if it's not yet too long.
Just call your bank that you had a mistaken transaction which client has refused to send back to you. Some details maybe needed.
A client actually sent me money by mistake twice, and I got the second transfer after 24hrs. Meanwhile he had already called his bank to report the double debut from his account. I later got the second transfer and sent back his money. You wouldn't believe that after almost a year, a lien of that same amount was placed on my account which I'm still battling with the banks to resolve. I've shown them evidences that I have settled the issue with my client over a year ago but the lien is still on my account uptill as I'm typing.
A lien is an embargo placed on your account for a particular amount which you cannot access pending clearance for such amount.
So, you can try it.
