12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

John 14:12 KJV

During the three year ministry of Jesus, he did many mighty things, which proved that he was, truly, the son of God. People thought he was a man until they witnessed his mighty works. Even his disciples were surprised when he performed some miracles that were beyond their imagination.

No man could ever imagine that another person besides Jesus would be able to perform greater miracles than him. Before the feast of the passover, Jesus changed the mindsets of his disciples when he told them that they could do better works than him if they believe on him.

They wouldn’t have believed that they could be better than him if another person besides Jesus revealed it to them.

Who would have imagined another person performing greater miracles than the Son of God?

After the ascension of Jesus Christ, his disciples began to do greater works than him, which confirmed his words in John 24:12. As long as you believe him, you will do greater works than him. It may seem unbelievable, but it is true because God is not a man that he should lie.

Once you doubt your ability to do greater works than him, Jesus, you won’t be able to do it, no matter your relationship with him.

What, then, are the unbelievable things you can do if you believe on him?

1. You Can Raise the Dead
.

14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.

16 Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.

17 Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.

18 Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:

19 And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.

20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.

21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.

23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.

24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

28 And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.

29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.

30 Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.

31 The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.

32 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled.

34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.

35 Jesus wept.

36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!

37 And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?

38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.

39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.

40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

John 11:14 – 44 KJV

Just as Jesus rose Lazarus, from dead, who was dead for four days, so Paul and Peter rose Eutychus and Tabitha respectively. That confirmed the words of Jesus in John 14:12, which says we can do whatever Jesus did when he was on earth.

As long as you can raise the dead, you can do it. So many Christians have attended burial ceremonies without ever thinking of raising the person who brought unstoppable tears from the attendees. Perhaps, you doubt your ability in Christ when you saw the lifeless body in a coffin.

If you don’t want to do it, you may be call upon when you don’t expect it. Peter didn’t know someone, Tabitha, was dead when he was in Lydda. Moreover, he was not prepared when some disciples at Joppa sent for him.

You don’t need to be prepared before you do the works of Christ. As long as you believe his words stated in John 14:12, you can do great works — even greater works than Jesus Christ.

Paul didn’t know Eutychus would die when he preached at Troas. You may be caught unaware; never wait till you are called to raise dead.

Exercise your faith in the word of God by raising anyone who is lifeless around you. What is the essence of the faith you have that can not raise the dead. God is counting on you to perform better miracles than him.

Furthermore, you can rise the dead whichever way the Holy Spirit lay in your heart. Jesus commanded Lazarus after he prayed. Peter did likewise when he rose Tabitha, Dorcas, from dead. However, Paul fell on Eutychus — this was exactly what Elijah, in 1 Kings 17:17-21, did when he rose the son of the widow of Zarephath — when he rose him from dead.

The Holy Spirit will tell you the method when you are about to raise any lifeless person. However, do not expect Holy Spirit to talk to you if you are not taking Jesus on his words.

2. You Can Make the Elements of Nature Obey You.

Jesus walked on water

23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

Matthew 8:23 – 27 KJV.

25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.

Acts 16: 25 – 26 KJV

Jesus walked on water; thereby, confirming the kind of person he was. Moreover, he rebuked the winds and the sea, and they remained calm. According to his words in John 14:12, you can rebuke the elements of nature.

When you speak believing the words of Jesus, elements or forces of nature have no choice than to obey you. Paul and Silas shook the foundation of the prison with songs and prayers. They proved elements or forces of nature could come to our aid when we are in trouble.

The Jailer was surprised, but Paul and Silas were not moved. When Jesus rebuked the wind and sea, the disciples were surprised because — at that time — he had not informed them about their ability if they believe on him.

It shouldn’t surprise when you come across group of Christians in any part of the world praying against the element or force of nature, which may hinder whatever their program. You may not even pray before you stop an element of nature. You can start or stop them if you believe the words of Jesus.

3. You Can Provide Money or Food in a Miraculous way.

Peter brought out money in the mouth of fish

24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?

25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?

26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.

27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

Matthew 17: 24 – 27 KJV

I’ve heard some pastors preached on how God provided for people by giving them idea, which transmuted to cash. They made the people believe God cannot give a physical cash.

Truth be told, their sermon was motivational, but it was not biblical. Who told you God could not provide a physical cash? When Jesus told Peter get money from the mouth of fish, they was no money in the mouth of the fish. If Jesus could do it, his word says you can do better than him.

You can provide money in a miraculous way, not only when God gives you an idea, but also when you believe on his word.

There were cookers when the children of Israel ate Manna in the wilderness.

Where did they see Manna?

It came directly from heaven. It may sound magical, but it’s real. If you pray for provision, you may be surprised to see the provision in a seemingly magical way. God may not send someone as he sent the widow of Zarephath to Elijah. He can put the money you requested in your wardrobe or car, anywhere, as he put a Shekel in the mouth of fish for the payment of tax. He can make it drop from heaven as he rained Manna from heaven — God is the same yesterday, today and forever. It will only happen in the proportion of your faith in his words.

Don’t let motivational speakers decrease your faith. Of course, God can give you idea ( I don’t dispute that) on how to make money. Also, he can give you money or any material substance directly from him to you without giving you idea — it all depends on your faith.

You've made valid points. But it is important to note that all that Jesus did was a result of His submission to His Father and not for selfish interests as we see these days.

If you refer to Phillipians 2:5-8, you'd see clearly that it is was His absolute submission, not for selfish purpose but genuinely to obey whether it was appealing to obey or not.

Looking at His disciples, the same submission was what His disciples followed as stated by Paul in Galatians 2:20 and other parts of Scripture. So the point is, what is the motive for our aspirations as Christians? For self interest or it is indeed to submit in service to the Lord? We have examples in Scripture. When our motive is right as Jesus' was, then living a supernatural life is a minute thing before the Lord.

CuteNerdyDude:

It was great that you even had it in mind, sometimes we just need you obey that leading. Even when the dead doesn't rise after praying it doesn't mean God isn't a miraculous God. Sometimes the Holy Spirit just wants to see our level of obedience and willingness to obey.

Remember, the apostles and Jesus Christ didn't just wake up one day and just started to raise the dead and do miracles, they were given to immense fasting and prayers. They were men who hosted God and God's presence. They were God's representatives on earth, they lived and preached and lived righteous and holy . Without holiness no man can host or see God.

All these I mentioned don't just happen instantly, it is a life journey, you learn everyday giving your self to prayer, fasting, study of the word, living holy and righteous, showing love to others. All in all being Christ's representative and kingdom forefronter.

Even I speaking I've not gotten to that level of result, we are all growing and we subdue our flesh and allow the spirit to lead until we look like Christ attaining perfection. All these is just God's grace. No man, I repeat can claim to be perfect if he doesn't attain Christly stature. It's not impossible.

There are countless people who have graced this earth that we can look up to.

So I pray for grace for every Christ follower pursuing Christly status and pursuing Kingdom advancement.

Happy Sunday

EmekaBlue:
how to do it?
True. But believing in your mind you can do it won't get it done, you would need real faith to do it. Here's an excerpt on the difference between faith and mental belief

...Imagine trying to describe snow in Africa before the TV and freezer era. How would you, when there is no substance in Africa similar.
It's similarly impossible to explain faith because it comes from a spiritual dimension and must be experienced to be known but the Lord Jesus Christ, lacking a parallel eventually used the human word for "belief" to represent it because it ultimately yields a belief. Faith itself is essentially different from believing, though producing belief/conviction of its own.
Believing is something all humans can do without faith just by learning whether religious knowledge or scientific. And we have all developed belief systems since birth. This believing is not faith.
Faith is spiritual substance, God's own essence which he gives to men out of Himself. When present and operating, it overcomes whatever at all stands in its way and never fails, not bound by natural limitations because it comes from a supernatural dimension.

The confusion today and the seeming failure of "faith"(wrongly called) even among respected ministers of God, is believing stuff which may be true indeed but believing exclusive of the divine essence itself i.e. faith.
But the problem believers have is after they receive faith, they never learn to get it to operate rather they simply sit back and learn all of the Christian belief system from the ministers of God and scriptures. No matter how true the doctrine may be, it can only form true beliefs and guide our actions. However, to get the supernatural results that come from faith, the believer must go beyond this to activating his faith.
Like every believer on this thread will tell you they believe Jesus can heal the sick yet if they prayed for healing and do not see sickness healed, while their belief is indeed true, the resulting failure is only due to the lack of faith despite the presence of belief.
For instance, I have no physical evidence or logical reason to believe the death of God on a cross for my sins but when the spiritual substance entered my heart, it made me know that this indeed happened, also for my sake and that it bought my forgiveness leading me to freedom instantly from guilt of all wrongs done without a human agency.
People who grow up in church may believe this but if without the spiritual substance of faith in their heart, they remain separated from God, despite their religious activities. However someone who never learned this but who then receives this spiritual substance of faith in heart, will then be restored to fellowship with God.
The believer can go on to develop his mastery of this spiritual substance of faith that earned him forgiveness and get any other supernatural results he desires.

And how to have faith?
By prayer(Mk11:22-24). Pray and never stop praying until the spiritual substance of faith is activated inside you. Once faith is activated, stop praying, it must come to pass.

Fasting: Some kind of faithlessness needs fasting to deal with it(Mt17:21)

one thing most Christians don't get is that every miracle Jesus performed was for a purpose and most importantly the glorification of God.

it's not for show off

anybody that does 'miracle' for the camera is a Fraud n fake.

OP, you're 100% correct with your write-up.
Faith in God's Word is a very powerful weapon to do unthinkable things here on Earth. In the eyes of humans (especially unbelievers), it may look stupid, foolish, idiotic and non-sensical. But to someone (believer) who consistently believe the very Words of Christ Jesus, it is very possible.

Do you know that there is a level you will get to in studying God's Word, if you just enter a place where somebody is sick, the person will just get healed even you without uttering much words.
Again, you can enter an office, strange things (evil people) will just give way to you.

At that point, you have become a very dangerous person to the agents of kingdom of darkness. Again, at that point material things will completely become irrelevant to you.

@olayiwola4u, I remember back when I was in school and serving in the media unit of my campus church, so many unbelievable miracles happened to me that I still can't explain up till today. I remember i survived hell week with only N10 in my wallet shocked I was feeding, taking transport to school and church, and yet that N10 still remained in my wallet. It was just unbelievable. Every time I board a bus, someone will either pay for me or the driver will take me to go. Anytime I want to buy food or snacks, someone will either pay for me or the seller will just give me for free.

I remember on Sundays, there used to be scarcity of bus in the bus-stop close to where I live. I will look from my window and see hundreds of people at the bus-stop waiting for bus to come take them to church. What I do is just dress up for church and then pray. I command and summon buses right now to come take me to church in the name of Jesus. Once I arrive at the bus-stop, there will be lots of buses everywhere grin I remember not having money to carry out my project. I was dead broke with no where to go and no one to ask. I closed my eyes and prayed and cried to God. After the prayer, I declared the week "Goodness week" and asked God to show me his wonders. Throughout that week, I was doing good and helping the people around me in the little way I could, I was also fasting from morning to 2pm.

Alas, on the 7th day exactly, I received a bank alert of the exact amount of money I needed for that project shocked We serve a great God. I also remember when we went for an outreach to the motherless babies home. On our way back, we were in the bus and suddenly I started to speak in tongues for about 2 minutes and then stopped. It didn't take another 5 minutes and we had an accident. The driver lost control of the brake and we were approaching a crowded market bus-stop. As God would have it, he was able to swerve out of the road and hit the wall of a bungalow. By God's grace, we were all saved. No scratch whatsoever. I remember One week after my exams, I was frustrated because my life wasn't going as I wanted, my results weren't pleasing either and I was dead broke and feeling empty, but then I decided to pray not for myself, but for others.

I told God that even though I don't feel satisfied by myself, I was letting go of my personal wants and praying for the needs of others around me. I fasted for one week and was praying rigorously for my family, friends, neighbors, course mates, etc. At the end of the fast, I heard a voice loudly, "I Will HELP YOU" in reference to Isaiah 41:10, and as they say, the rest is history grin God'd hands have been mighty upon my life since my school days. And to make it surprising, I've not been the best of myself. I've gone astray many times, done so many wrongs, lavishing in sin, but God has been faithful with his promise up until this day. Sometimes, I'm tempted to ask him, Why me? I'm not even worthy to be blessed based on my recent lifestyle, yet he continues blessing me. He is steadfast and his word is yea and amen.

Sometimes, when I tell people these testimonies, they either say I'm lying or just laugh it off. These miracles have strengthened my faith and belief in God, and whenever I go astray, I always have it in mind that there is God up there who's always watching over me and calling me back home. I hope I can shed all my bad habits and lifestyles that have entangled me ever since and just come clean to the table of mercy. God help me through Jesus Christ his son, Amen.

Nice sermon my brother thank you this morning.may the lord be remember always in our heart

Let them just grow back an amputated limb

This particular one really makes me laugh.
Prayers can do and undo. Prayers can cure HIV, raise the dead, change one's genotype, but something as simple as growing one's missing body part, it can't.
I mean, if one's amputated legs actually grew back due to prayers, that would clearly prove that prayer works. That would be the most significant proof that miracles actually happens.
But no, we'll never hear about a man whose amputated legs, hands, or lost body part grew back.
Why dont Christians ever pray for one's body part to be restored? Don't they have enough faith? grin

This is nothing but trash,
So your biblical understanding is so shallow that you can't differentiate between God's authority and human limitation.
You need this (James 1 v 5)
2Tim 2v 15) you need to stop following Pastor
