Worthy of celebration indeed.
Thank God for Nigerians making us proud at home and abroad.
Is it not curious that the western media hardly link these people to Nigeria as they do with fraudsters?
All hail the Yoruba nation for blessing the black race and Nigeria in particular with these bright minds.
Talents abound from all parts of Nigeria. Pls let's stop with the tribalism. It is hindrance to our collective progress.

What you said will result in us Never getting along in this Nigeria.
You are hailing Yoruba tribe alone instead of being happy for the whole nation Nigeria, which will invite tribal rivalry.
Westerners don't ever talk like that. They just hail their whole country or state, NY , CA, TX... But not mentioning their tribe everytime -Apache, Cherokee, irish, German, Scandinavian... If they keep saying it in every conversation, their national unity will fall apart and they fight each other on tribal grounds

I normally watch that Richard Ayoade comedy clips on YouTube. The guy is very funny in a nerd way.
Whenever they interview him, he just says his mother in Norwegian and his father is Nigerian. He never says which tribe in Nigeria. Though, we all know from his surname name. But that's how he himself chooses to identify.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RraKa-PKFPs

Your points are valid. However we are Nigerians and we are defined by our environment. No matter how much we try to emulate the western lifestyle, the African in us will still be visible.

What I want you to understand is that no matter the way we use to present the thread, it will still degenerate to a tribal affairs coz that is what Nigerians are. We should rather embrace what we are rather than fighting against it.

Let me give you an example.
If the thread was about Nigerians in Hollywood, and I present it in a way that there are let’s say 50 Yorubas, 30 Igbos, and 20 minority tribes. What do you think will happen?

There will be grievances on the side of the tribes with low numbers because they might say I purposely choose the Yorubas own to be more than theirs. Then another tribal issue will ensue.

So the thread is just about the Yorubas in Hollywood today, tomorrow it might be Nigerians in Hollywood. So I see no wrong in this.

Pls edit your post about Lekan Babalola.

Lekan Babalola is my Uncle and he's a Native of Ileogbo Ayedire Local government headquarter in Osun. Ileogbo is not part of Iwo and they are not in the same local government.

Thanks for your understanding.

Okay let me do that.

Thanks for bringing that to my notice.

Unfortunately it can’t be edited because the post is now on front page and Nairaland won’t allow you to modify the first post on front page.

But now we all know Pa Lekan Babalola is a native of Ileogbo.

After all, we are all one Yoruba.

This also signifies that your root might not really matter as compared to your present status\ location
