Your apps are probably being installed on the device not your memory card...

My suggestion;
Go to play store..
Search for...
1)Apk Extract...
Extract your apk files and
Then,
2)Download an apk called files to SD card..

So after extracting the files....
Go to the other app (files to SD card )
And extract to your memory card..

Try and see..
I did and it worked for Me...

Just buy a new phone, lol. I don't know what your internal space is but I assume you have around 16GB and you probably have a very old model phone if it still allows you to install apps on SD card. Try to get something with at least 64GB.

Not a very clever recommendation. I have a device with 64GB internal storage and I still run out of storage. I know in 2020 64GB is like 16GB from 2013. It would make sense however if Apps are more optimized and media files get smaller even while keeping the same high quality.

Android system takes up storage in your phone, as well as preloaded apps like Google and some bloatware.

Also, your phone could support A/B partition, meaning that you have two OS in your phone (Slot A can be the one you're in, slot B is the previous version before you updated your phone).

A logging app might be creating daily files on your phone (for example, MTK Logger on Mediatek based phones), or your social media apps might be downloading videos and images automatically. Reconfigure your apps' settings.

It actually depends on the phone memory too, some apps can't be on memory card.

The culprit is your app cache.

Go to settings, apps, select Facebook or Instagram, check space used on the phone by clicking on the app, storage then select storage and clear cache.

The Instagram cache can get as big as 2gb, especially if u consume a lot of Instagram info.

Had same issue on my phone and that's what's I did to free space.

Update: Another thing that takes space is your WhatsApp local backup files. It's can take as much as 1gb sef so what I do is check date and leave 2-3 most recent backups while deleting the others. Check the 2nd screenshot

Always clear your cache if not it will keep accumulating and your storage will get filled up. I have a phone with 128gb of storage and i still have over 70gb of free space. I always clear my cache every morning.

My chrome browser occupies 1.04GB Now. I've grown tired of clearing the cache

It happened to my phone too, more reason why I don't keep anything on the internal storage except the applications

You're complaining Android have you used an iPhone before , iOS apps are like 3x the internal storage of Android apps . The fee suggestions I can give .

Try to download lite versions of apps .

Uninstall unused apps

Clear your cache and try to study the app or apps that is responsible , if it's needed uninstall and reinstall it , if it's not remove it entirely ..

Try to clear your recycle bin .

But the realistic solution save up and get a better device , that's the truth a lot of persons would be unwilling to tell you

I don't know what you're using your phone for, but 64GB is very sufficient. Unless if you're storing big video files like movies.

Always clear cache, and if your phone is 16gb you might have this problem

No mind me, too much garri don affect my eyes... I just dey see am now

a times its the app in use that eats up so much space, i once experienced that on my spark k7 where it ran out of memory yet i still had space on my phone, until i discovered chrome had used a lot of space in the background and once i cleared the cache of chrome my phone was relieved.
