Gbajabiamila Gives Akpabio 48 Hours To Publish Names Of Lawmakers Awarded Contracts By NDDC

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, has given the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, 48 hours to publish the names of lawmakers who were awarded contracts by Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as well as the details of the contracts.

Should the minister fail to publish the names, the speaker said the House will employ the full wrath to ensure he does so.

The ultimatum comes a day after the minister claimed that most of the contracts awarded by the NDDC were awarded to lawmakers.

During a testy appearance before the House Committee on NDDC on Monday, Senator Akpabio claimed that the lawmakers were “the greatest beneficiaries” of NDDC contracts.

Asked how the lawmakers benefitted, he said, “I just told you that we have records to show that most of the contracts in the NDDC are given out to members of the National Assembly”.

The Speaker who accused Senator Akpabio of pulling the oldest trick in the book with the claims believes the minister owes it the country to publish the names in the interest of transparency.

Good development.

Now that NASS members have throw down the gauntlet, Akpabio and the NDDC shouldn't hold back any information.

Let the royal rumble start as we await to see best singing canary amongst the gladiators

Akpabio is a corrupt thief, he should be jailed.

He left PDP to join APC in order to loot like he did in PDP.

When he was a Governor many people accused him of corruption but many PDP sympathizers called them "enemies of progress" "Detractors" "Opposition"

Now he is in APC and the looting spirit is still in him.

FFK, Wike and Fayose will just be catching cruise right now

CONTRACT splitting is rampant in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Niger Delta Affairs Minister Godswill Akpabio, said on Monday. Justice must be held for all those involved in crime. Unless the system will fail us again this time!
Its all up to Akpabio to do the needful

"He who comes into equity must come with clean hands".

Let Akpabio also prove he's clean of the mess at NDDC.

My own is that whosoever is guilty should be prosecuted but will the NASS do justice to the matter at hand?

Akpabio implicated himself.

He forgot he was once a lawmaker who served on same NDDC committee in the last assemblt and possibly benefitted from what he alleged others to have done.

Akpabio will be looking for names now like

Some of the allegations read against the NDDC are:

”That an Interim Management Committee of the NDDC spent N81.5 billion as sundry expenses, including graduation ceremonies in the United Kingdom during lockdown.

* That the IMC Spent N3.14 billion for COVID-19 palliatives for staff members; N1.3 billion on community relations and N85.6million on travels during lockdown between February and May 2020:

* That the IMC also spent N122.9 million on condolences between February – May 2020; N23.8million on consultancy and N2.6 billion on medicals,

*The spending of N790.9million as imprest; N1.9 billion on Lassa fever; N706 million on legal services; N1.121 billion on public communication.

The statement further explained that “it would be unfair to hold him (Pondei) personally liable for acts which took place when he was not the head of the commission.”

The acting managing director assumed office on February 20, 2020 and by May 5, the National Assembly “ordered a probe of his tenure of exactly 74 days at the time, two thirds of which was spent under COVID-19 lockdown conditions.”
