My Poultry Project.. Advice Needed by West2North(m): 2:20pm On Jul 28, 2020
Hello Nairalanders,

When planning to raise birds for meat,
1. What is the best breed for its meat quality and quantity?

2. Battery Cages or floored room, which is the best way to raise day old chicks?

3. Which breed is renowned for its hardiness, yet a goo meat producer?

4. Can I use an empty room and palour self-contained for this project until the chicks are 6weeks old and I release them to range freely in the compound? Does releasing them after six weeks make sense?

5. What type of small-scale low-cost incubator can I use in hatching day old chicks?

I have a plan to start my Poultry farm in about a month's time as long as I have enough information at my disposal. I am not uploading pictures right now because I am not at the proposed site of the poultry which is at Orimerunmu, Mowe while I'm in Bariga.

Thank you as you contribute to the success of a beginner.

Somebody please help. I have combed and I'm still combing the internet for information but I know that many of those information do not apply to the peculiarities in Nigerian environmental conditions. This is why I came here to check with practicing farmers for practical knowledge.

Thank you

1. Abor acre breed of broiler is good. you can achieve average of 2.5kg in 6 weeks depending on your feed quality
2. chicks battery cage is good because it reduces the spread of diseases but it is capital intensive. however a deep litter system is also good if the litter is managed properly.
3. refer to point 1
4. releasing them on free range does not make sense
5.why would you want to hatch? Do you have parent stock?

Hi everyone,
I decided to go have a look and take pictures of the proposed poultry site and the below are the pictures. it's three apartments in all and the are all room and palour self-contained each.

I want to be sure this can be used to brood day old chicks efficiently. I have read a lot of articles but I need practical help based on experience now. Thank you all and God bless you
