Governor Yahaya Bello Controls Traffic Along Abuja -lokoja Road. The Root Cause. by stamapro(m): 2:55pm On Jul 28, 2020
The traffic deadlock along Abuja-Lokoja express road started on the 25th/07/2020. Contrary to speculations that, the people of the state organised it to project the poor level of infrastructural development championed by Yahaya Bello's administration.

Two lorries coming from opposite direction were involved in a head-on collision on the Murtala Mohammed bridge making it near impossible for motorists to use the road.

The maintenance work carried on one lane is slow, and the workers nonchalant. Been a major road, any work that must be carried out on it, must be expedient and should be done within a short frame of time.

Why was it not done during the lockdown? When there was a restriction in movement, to curtail the spread of the pandemic!

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State and his convoy got stuck on Sunday on their way from Abuja, he had to control traffic for almost 6 hours. But several commuters and passengers had being sleeping there since Friday. There is nothing spectacular about controlling traffic if the necessary work on that bridge is not carried out. He will still direct traffic another day, probably pass the night there.

Several commuters and passengers trekked many kilometers, before they could get out of the raffic jam lock. Cyclist popularly known as okada took advantage of the situation to exploit desperate commuters and passengers. They charged #1500 to #4000 to cross the bridge to neighbouring villages (Koton Karfe and Ozi.)

I really don't blame them. A country blessed with resources, but cursed with leadership. I pray our leaders set their priorities right, so that the masses don't continue to suffer and pay for their inefficiencies.
