So, we start with drawings, why drawings are important and bill of quantities

We have different types of drawings
If you want to be a bungalow
You will need architectural drawings showing
Floor plans, elevations, sections, roof plan and specifications
But for a duplex
You will need architectural drawings, structural drawings
Architectural drawings is also showing the same as above while structural drawings is showing the details of reinforcement (iron rod) needed for the slab (decking) and beam including columns.
Electrical drawings is produced for both bungalow n duplex showing you the all the electrical works in the building , location of switches and sockets, piping and wiring and e.t.c
Mechanical work is also produced for both duplex and bungalow showing all plumbing works in the house

Nowadays we over look mechanical an electrical drawings because we can easily give it to artisan to perform for us not professionally but it is widely accepted now. I can count how many drawings I have worked on with electrical and mechanical drawings except a massive construction

Bill of quantities is produced by a cost consultant by providing project specific measured of quantities of items of work identified in the drawings and specifications could be in numbers,length, area,volume and weight. It shows you the total amount to complete the project based on the drawings. It is different from materials and labor schedule. Material schedule will show you the total materials needed for the project for example how many tons of sharp sand needed, plaster sand, granite, number of bags of cements, quantities of tiles, number of paints buckets required and others materials, it will break down the materials needed at each stage of the project while labour cost will help you pay your direct labour money without being cheated on

I am based in Lagos but can work anywhere so far it has a construction

I will be dropping how to calculate how many buckets is needed to paint a room .

A normal room of 3.6 by 3m and a height 3m ( wall height)
Then two windows of 1.2 by 1.2 m each and door of 0.9 by 2.1m .
Calculation
(3.6 +3)*2 because it is for the four walls of the room only interior
Then multiply answer by 3 the height of the building = 39.6m
For the windows 1.2*1.2*2- 2.88
Doors- 0.9*2.1-1.89
39.6-2.88-1.89= 34.83m2
For ceiling
3.6*3- 10.8m2
Total square meter is
34.83+10.8=45.63m2
Assuming for a normal paint 1l covers 4m2
45.63/5= 9.126x 2 coats = 18.25
It means one 20 litres bucket of paint at two coat
