I have called about 2 mechanics to assist out but they dont seem to have any idea where the engine number is.

I want to register the vehicle but I really dont want all this police wahala

What's the engine configuration? V6 or 4 Cylinder?

Some recent registrations use N/A in place of the engine number as the engine is a replaceable part and the engine number is often inaccessible without partial engine disassembly. That's something to consider.

If you do this, you will be regular police customer.

Take a mechanic along, they know how to get it.

It's between the engine block and gear box, they use mirror to get it out as the position is tight.

if you can get the manual for that model, iy would probably tell you how to find it.

Open your bonnet and stand with the attached picture look at the same place the red arrow is pointing. It’s on the block that same edge connected to the gear. 2AZ

Oga, u don't need to disturb urself about the engine number of ur car, most registration people do on there papers don't put in engine number but make it blank cuzz it's considered that the engine might be changed in due time, but it's good u know the engine number or sha, my own take

It's surprising how you guys in Lagos and the South(west and east)in general go through such stress. Here in the North, I have never heard of police checking engine number or customs asking for custom duty. Even FRSC don't check tires and all those stuff. In fact they hardly flag down private vehicles. And for commercial cars, once license and registration is complete the driver is good to go.

Police in Edo have dealt with me severally bc the vehicle licensing office put N/A on my vehicle paper. They argue that the engine in my car is a stolen engine.

When I bring the excuse of engine can be changed, they tell me there is a process of replacing engine including police report.

I was frustrated till I got s mechanic to copy out the engine number and in my next renewal i inputed the engine number, since then I have been free from police stress

False. No engine number on my registration; never been stopped

swear an affidavit and police extract that as the time of registration u could not access the engine number because of its complex location. That the registration and the documents remain valid.thats all
