Most of us are very hard on ourselves. We tend to think that just because we don’t have that glitzy lifestyle that we dream about, that just because we missed that deadline, or forgot that birthday of a loved one, we don’t deserve to feel grateful about ourselves.

Fortunately, that is not to be the case. Despite all our imperfections – and all of us do have imperfections, all of us deserve to be happy at just being ourselves. That’s because, in a myriad of inexplicable ways, we’re doing so much for us and our loved ones that is making a positive difference to our and their lives.

That’s why in this article I’m going to share some tips using which you can feel good about yourself:

#1: Keep a gratitude journal
One of the best advice I’ve ever received is to maintain a gratitude journal. I spend at least fifteen minutes every day writing in it the positive changes that I have brought in my life. This allows me to zoom out of the current moment and look at the bigger picture.

So, instead of beating myself for spending the last hour of workday compiling a list of companies offering touchless vending machine compare how the current year is better than the previous one. This tells me that my present circumstances are immensely better than the previous ones.

Once you note down this difference, you’d immediately feel good about yourself. That’s because you will realize how hard you have worked to get where you are. That realization that it’s you who have brought positive changes to your life will be hugely refreshing.

#2: Identify how you’re helping others
You don’t have to be a community leader or the president of an organization to be beneficial to those around you. Every one of us is helping those around us in innumerable ways. Let me give you an example to illustrate this point better.

Assume you work in an office on a specific job. Ask yourself: who are the persons that are benefiting from me getting this thing done at this hour? Whether it is your immediate boss, your customer, your client, or a far-off remote colleague, there will be someone who will be benefiting from you doing your job.

Aside from that, take examples from your daily routine. Provided you stayed in your lane and didn’t obstruct the path of those in more hurry than you, probably you helped someone get to their destination in time for an important event. You should identify little things like this to be self-appreciative.

#3: Purchase a gift for yourself
Provided your budget allows you to, reward yourself with a gift every now and then. It doesn’t have to be a luxury super-car. You can reward yourself with purchasing that custom vending machine which you have been thinking of buying for the past few months.

Make sure that the item you’re purchasing for yourself isn’t merely a show-piece. It should ideally help you on a daily basis. That way, you’d continue to appreciate yourself for making the purchase.
