Is this worth selling Nigeria to China for?

They give us shiny things and they take our land.

Power move.

This kinda reminds of when the Europeans first came and they brought mirrors and gin and Bibles, gave them to us and took everything...including our psyche as a people.

Today, the ripple effect is very evident.

Maybe by the time China is done with us, our official language will be Chinese and our children's children will learn to speak and write Chinese characters before they even learn their own mother tongue.

And kudo to Buhari and especially Amaechi on this feast.
The guy Amaechi can confidently point to where the money his ministry borrowing is going to unlike other ministries especially the military and petroleum one
They are going to generate revenue and pay the money.

Enjoy. I expect it will be run to the ground as usual.

if you build a company, you control who to employ.

since the government is running it , they control who to employ and we since northern Nigeria population is large, they will get most of the jobs during a northern government like the one Nigeria currently have.

In a country of 200 million people with horrible roads, overpriced air tickets, and no "hyperloops", trains are a big deal and are genuinely seen as that. Personally, I'm a train enthusiast and can't wait to see a functional rail system throughout the country. The only parallel you can draw between trains and gin is novelty, not usefulness. And usefulness is what is important.

I am not arguing about the usefulness of trains.

Every civilized society should have them, no doubt.

My quarrel is, at what cost? Slavery? Apartheid? Discrimination in our own country?

The huge debt we are accruing to put our railway back on track (pun intended) can be totally financed by the Nigerian state.

You need to see how much is being embezzled in government ministries like the NDDC and the Humanitarian Affairs.

Nigeria shouldn't be a borrower nation.

But the Chinese are happy that most African countries are corrupt, from head to toe.

That way, they can reenact the exchange of our brothers and sisters and land for mirrors, gin and bicycles by bartering for our sovereignty for a few train cars and rail lines.

This remind me of the school time vernacular

Yeah.

That's what the Europeans did to us.

Made us feel inferior for speaking our language.

Our mother tongue became vernacular

Our religious practices became fetish

Our culture and traditions became barbaric

Our gods and ancestor became demons to be cast into hell.

They erased the memory of who we are and supplanted ours with theirs.

A foreign language

A white culture

A white God and white angels.

Now, maybe the next generation of Africans will worship Buddha and imbibe the philosophies of Confucius.

God help the black man. He has become a canvas for other people to paint their cultures and beliefs upon.

I don't have a problem with you being nothing but a biased conspiracy theorist, my only concern is that you are miseducating the public with your conspiracies.
Where were you when PDP govt took a $500 million loan from the same Chinese to install CCTV all over Abuja?
Till date, not one camera was installed, they looted the money and now this govt has been the one repaying that terrible debt.

We're talking about an important loan for rail that Nigeria has already repaid some of it and is repaying each passing year through debt servicing in our annual budgets, and you're all over the place spitting conspiracies.
Nonsense!

Going to school and learning the English language isn't what education is.

The illiterate of the 21st century will not be the ones who haven't gone to school, but the ones who can't learn, unlearn and relearn.

You are a 21st century illiterate and it doesn't matter if you have a PhD or not.

In all the post I've made on this topic, did I mention PDP or APC?

The Chinese government is surely counting on useful ediots that most Nigerian youths are to pull this off.

I've posted pictures, I've posted videos, you have access to Google, YouTube to confirm some of these things, but no.

You'd rather come to my mention and spew crap in exchange for cheap likes.

The previous government took loans to install CCTV in a state but didn't. And probably didn't repay the loan, and you feel confident that this government is different and will repay the loans.

I'm sure only the people born long after GSM was introduced to Nigeria don't know that APC = PDP Reloaded.

Please don't quote me again. I'm really done with this thread.

Bro,I know all these before and I made my research and realises that they took loan from china and they default, automatically they will take over the infrastructure for some time to complete their payment, it has simple as that. See, it's only a sincere government that will run to Chinese for loan coz they will make sure the project is well executed by them only for we as a nation to be monitoring them... If the foundation is clear and their is adequate accountability I think we can pay these loan in the given time frame, they give us 10_20 yrs to pay back we av paid over $90million in a space of 3yrs out of $500million we collected in 2017 ....

Looking for accountability from the Nigerian government is like looking for a needless in an haystack.

Assuming Buhari's government is sincere (and I don't believe they are), this administration ends in two and half years time.

What guarantees do we have that the subsequent incoming administrations will meet up?

None.

And that's assuming that we won't go to China again in the near future to ask for more loans and more loans and more loans...

Anyway, you and I, we won't die. We will be very much alive to see how this works out.

Since we got the debt relief, you can imagine that all we have done since then is to start accumulating debt upon debt upon debt despite being an oil producing nation.

I wonder how people think that Nigeria won't default on these loans from the Chinese?

Probably because they forget that the loans come with a price tag called Interest.

You pay the loans and pay the Interest.

Most often, it's the accumulation of the Interest that makes it difficult to clear a loan.

Nigeria will default and China will swoop in.

It is what it is.

Must it be only the govt that will operate the train coaches? Can none of the transport companies or a group of them not able to afford the train couches?
Govt alone can't be the regulator and the only operator in the rail industry.

An efficient transport system creates a free flowing business environment. U.K. Don't have oil USA Started exploring her oil few years ago.

A good transport system ,manufacturing industry and efficient management is a time bomb it most give birth to success.

Corruption is the problem, china giving Nigeria loans is to exploit our market because of the cordial relationship. But it's left for Nigeria to take advantage, make do of the loans effectively. Let's not blame Nigeria's incompetence on China. Aside from oil what else do we export? Foreign reserve is dead. After reviving the rail industry power and manufacturing industry will follow suit . If Nigerians are employed development will come even with corruption.

But these thiefs are scared of competition that's why they do everything possible to kill that dreams of the youths so their children will rule on us . They want the average Nigerian to be hungry so they'll be easy to buy with food during elections.

Lemme bring this phrase out from your post

A good transport system ,manufacturing industry and efficient management

Are we talking about the same Nigeria?

The same Nigeria that couldn't manage her National Airline/Carrier?

The same Nigeria that barely has industries worth the name? That is a consumer nation? That has no electricity to power a viable manufacturing sector?

The same Nigeria that sucks in maintenance culture?

The Chinese will help us run our economy alright.

And when they are done, we will be speaking Mandarin, we will be bearing Chinese names, we will be spending the Yen, we will be waving the red communist flag of China, we will be writing in Chinese characters, we will be worshipping Buddha.

Nigeria's oil is originally meant for people in delta, ondo, bayelsa, akwa-ibom, calabar and some igbo states ( less than 10 - 20 million people )..

but it is shared by over 60 - 100 million people, so this affects a lot of things but its still not an excuse for Nigeria's lack of capital expenditures.

you're too negative minded.

Pele o, positive minded.

I sure don't owe you any explanation or apology for my opinions.

The problem with most Nigerian youths is that they are distracted with irrelevant things.

Most don't even know that the French are still colonizing African countries like Cameroon and Niger Republic etc.

This might be because China doesn't lend cash with regards to these loans. Substantial part of the loan is tied to physical infrastructure and expertise which are supplied by Chinese firms.

Oga, repaying the loans won't be that difficult if we have credible people in place after Buhari and his team leave.

We really urgently have to fix our infrastructures, and I am glad that the president understands that much.

Nothing thrives without solid infrastructures in place. The tankers and trucks are all over the place, especially around Lagos.

What matters is that these borrowed funds are being meaningfully and strategically utilized.

Would anyone seriously believe that they are giving loans to poor countries out of the goodness of their hearts?
.

And unlike the west they are a totalitarian Communist regime, they mostly don't care about freedom or rights, nor do they try to play fair because they are not limiting themselves in any extent to Judeo-christain morals. They've been stealing and reverse engineering tech for years.

As at the moment they can not compete with the US in military power, but they are slowly building up and are harassing Southeast Asian countries over territorial waters.

1, nobody ask you to accept chinese loans, but dont forget to pay the old debt

2, whether chinese are totalitarinism has nothing to do with black guys. chinese have nothing to do with you, the only connection is business. even tribal genocides happen in nigeria, chinese will not give a shit.

3 , southeast asia was china's territory for thousands of years before the white guys wheedled and snapped them away. dont talk as if southeast asia nations are countries equal to china . they are vassals.
