Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and the officials from NRC&NPA inspected the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail project on Saturday,15 August, 2020.

The inspection, which commenced at Ebute-Metta Junction (EBJ) Rail Station at 7:30am, then ride on the narrow gauge corridor to Apapa port to monitor the ongoing work inside the port.

After returned to EBJ, the inspection team boarded the new train at Tejuosho, Yaba, embarked on a ride to Ibadan in Oyo State, and stop at all the railway stations. The stations along the corridor are Apapa, EBJ, Agege, Agbado, Kajola, Papalanto, Abeokuta, Olodo, Omi-Adio and Ibadan. The 10 major and minor stations on the 156km rail line were at various stages of completion but the rail track has been almost completed to EBJ from Ibadan.

The minister said that the CCECC needed to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic, give the personnel enough protection materials and work harder to deliver this project before January 2021.
