Kai Havertz during training for Bayer Leverkusen
For some time now, Chelsea have been vying for the services of Bayer Leverkusen’s exceptional talent Kai Havertz. While the Blues are said to have come to an agreement with the 21-year-old, the clubs now also seem to be coming closer to an agreement.
The talks between FC Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen about the transfer of Kai Havertz are picking up speed. According to the Guardian, the clubs converged on a transfer for the 21-year-old during a “productive meeting” yesterday Wednesday.

So far, the Werkself have insisted on the originally requested 100 million euros. After some large commitments, the Blues are aiming for a lower amount, which comes with bonus payments on top of the sum targeted by Leverkusen. Most recently, Chelsea offered a basic amount of 80 million euros.
Despite the still different ideas about the transfer, the deal will probably go through in the coming days due to the “encouraging pace” . According to ‘Sport Bild’, Chelsea have been in agreement with Havertz for some time. The national player can look forward to a total salary of 100 million euros over five years from the Londoners.
