Recently I came across the concept of MAD. MAD here stands for Mutually Assured Destruction. It means that sometimes peace arise when two opponents are Assured of Mutual Destruction should they take on each other.

When I used to be younger and more idealistic, I had great aversion for cultists and touts( no intention to demean anyone). But as I grow older and more experienced in life and politics, I realized that no class of people is not necessary.

Just like government have Army, Police, etc, and then diplomats and intellectuals, so also different microcosm of the society need their own 'armed' men and diplomats. We cannot all be preachers of peace. Some people have to be mad and ready to scatter if the opponent feel they are mad and ready to scatter.

Since this realization, I stopped being mad at politicians that keep thugs. Because if it weren't for those thugs, their opponent will feed him to the dogs.

Take for instance also many ethnic clashes in different parts of the country like the Tiv/Jukun crisis, Umuleri/Aguleri crisis, Ezza/Ezillo crisis, the crisis in Southern Kaduna, the Jos crisis, etc. Imagine if one part of any of these divide were all preachers of peace, don't you think they would have gone extinct? And believe me that most of these people never earned their protection from the security forces. No. They earned it from their 'touts'.

Now to IPOB, even before Obadiah Mailafia explosive outburst, a man I know who is sometimes privy to some intelligence, told me that there would be war. In his words, "Aga akwa mgbo". He told me the Fulanis are already circulating the East. But as I was still taking his words with a pinch of salt, boom, Mailafia came with the Mother of all Bombs and stood by his words.

So let's just imagine Obadiah was to be right, and the Fulani are preparing a civil war against the Igbo, and with every security agency overseen by a Fulani, who would have protected the Igbo if IPOB wasn't here?

After watching the video of IPOB protest in Aba after the Emene fracas, I saw an Army waiting for a command. And that's just Aba alone. Possibly not all IPOB in Aba made it to the protest. Think of IPOB in Enugu, Abakaliki, Owerri, Onitsha, Awka, and elsewhere, and you will realize that even if the Fulani militia has truly infiltrated the East, they will see that the job won't be easy.

I am not sure same thing would have been said if IPOB wasn't here. Just imagine the entire East was still with no pressure group ( don't even mention MASSOB headed by a bought Uwazurike).

In conclusion, I'd like to state that I am not a member of IPOB and do not subscribe to them picking up arms because the East would be the worst hit. But it comes a time when you have to look at an issue from a different prism and realize that just like 2Baba said, "Even nyash dey important"; the 'touts' too are important.

... and call for round table to discuss on IPOB terms.. otherwise hostilities won’t stop..

This approach won’t bring violence or blood in the east..
But will make any government ungovernable.. after all some elements are making the country ungovernable already

Same thing has been my fear. Bringing war home will distablize Eastern economy just like Maiduguri and we don't want that. But trust me the Fulani are looking for an opportunity to bombard Igboland and raze it to the ground. They think we are brainless.
