Dear NairaLanders...

Please we need your advice & maintenance analysis (to guide a friend that needs it for boths his personal waka and moving staffs of his company). Let's have your comments If you've used any of these 2 cars considering these below listed actors;

1. Ruggedity or site movement/rough terrain
2. Maintenance cost (Availability/cost of spare parts)
3. What are the common faults synonymous with each of the 2 cars
4. Double row back seat to convey more passengers
5. Finally, compare how the resell value of each of these 2 cars rates.

Please let's know your experience using any of the 2 cars... For instance Honda the maker of Acura.

I have only tested the sienna. I really don't know maybe because it's a Toyota. men this car was rugged and really strong.

we march it from Lagos to Ghana. it's a real machine.

they are many of that sienna running that routine.

I do not think you should conpare that Acura with sienna. they are not the same peal of ruggedity and or classic

1. Ruggedity - Sienna is more rugged, But the MDX has a better handling so it will drive better in a bad terrain
2. The Sienna parts will be more available
3.....
4. The sienna is more spacious as it's larger than the MDX
5. Resale Value - Sienna has a better resale value, I think same goes for parts, because you'll find more of the Sienna than the MDX

What about the parts/cost of maintenence and resale value as they both compare?

And I think the Acura has an Auxiliary gear which is hard to find on any Sienna.

then buy sienna with all wheel drive function, your problems solved. SIENNA is ur best bet here.

I drive a 2001 MDX , it answers when you call it .
Parts I always change are camber bushing , brake pads, normal changing of oil .
The car has been on the road since November 2012.
First used in Lagos state before brought back to the East.
The owner was traveling out .
Been driving the car since 2015 , no hard cracker issues from it .
Last year July 9th 2019 I drove it to Abuja back to Enugu ( no issues encountered on the road ).
Well balanced on the road .

I have driven both. they are both reliable cars. but for what you need it for, MDX hands down. Sienna does not do well in rugged terrains as the suspensions were not built for such.

Honda Pilot of same year will be better in terms of maintenance and resale value and gives you same ruggedity.

MDX is cheap to maintain. Pilot is cheaper to maintain. buy that one. its actually cheaper to maintain than sienna.

The ruggedness of MDX is legendary, it can withstand more bad roads than Sienna
As for availability of parts, I have refused to buy into that ever since I got a hyundai because it is better you get one original part that will last you than cheap China substitutes.
All these these they are saying Toyota has cheap parts are China clones, original Toyota parts are even more expensive than some other cars
