I'm aware that Economist do not struggle to get job, because there is not reasonable organization/firms etc, that don't need an economist.

stay there being decieved inside our Naija.

Many of them are there in private secondary schools teaching Economics and Commerce.

If you don’t wanna join them in private secondary school teaching Commerce and Economics, go into IT world, Data Science or start your apprenticeship training in handwork.

If you are not interested in the above, know “somebody” or know God

Since this trend is breeding.. Let me drop a few.

- I have pals who studied Pol. Science, they both got a job through the graduate trainee scheme in Zenith Bank and Access banks. Both have progressed so much career wise, and by net worth they are multi-millionaires and established.

- I know a bunch of guys who studied architecture, administration, soil science, animal husbandry and some 'perceived low grade social science/art courses working in KPMG, PWC and EY. Oh yeah, and they have progressed so much, bagged professional courses and masters alike even in newer unrelated fields.

Emphatically,
Upcoming graduates need to understand this simple rule.

There are actually jobs here in Nigeria and everywhere!!!

But the most significant characteristics every employer looks for are:

1. Aptitude
2. Capability
3.Competence

Anyone who has developed these 3 variables will definitely be gainfully employed when the opportunity comes knocking regardless of whatever course they studied.

Definitely some courses have more preferences than others but on a balanced scale employers are looking for candidates the 3 features above.

So what's the problem

1. How many graduates spread across all courses in Nigeria can easily ace GMAT, SHL, psychometric/ability tests and well structured oral interviews. Oh yeah, you would say people with majors in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) have advantage because of their backgrounds in numerics, but these questions are structured to check your problem solving, verbal, critical and visual intelligence.

2. How many graduates take time off school to attempt IQ Tests, job tests and practice before and after they graduate. So many graduates lack simple social and communication skills, many lack basic computing knowledge and can't use basic MS Office applications - there are actually people who can't open a word document and type.

3. We can easily say that many graduates in Nigeria are seriously unprepared not actually 'unqualified' to get jobs. Get to social media like Facebook groups and your eyes would hurt so much from grammatical blunders written by 'graduates'. It's not the school's or course they studied but an 'individual problem'

Anyone who "genuinely" made at least 2.1/Upper credit from any top tertiary institution in Nigeria actually has special skills and unique capabilities they may not even know about.

School is not Scam, and there are JOBS!!!

There are just a handful persons who have paced themselves up with the relevant skills and knowledge to grab them!

All professions have both the successful and wretched.

We have some notable Nigerians that studied so called unprofessional courses and are making waves in the profession.
Ngozi iweala, soludo, sanusi and a few to mention are economists.
Adesina Akinwumi is an agric graduate.

You might argue that, they have connections or things are easy during there time.
Quick question, Will ngozi be minister for finance if she studied Yoruba?? Or Akinwumi be afdb president if he studied mbbs??

There is this popular first class economics graduate here by the name J.arus, who works in a big organization. Even though you're nt mate, he his still your contemporary.

Harness the reality of which profession you're studying and the sky will be your starting point.

I think an Economist can work even with a small scale business to a large scale business. All you have to do is open your mind to the possibility that there are dozens of jobs out there and if you are not so lucky to grab one, you can start up something in line with your course of study or affiliate with someone to build something. You just need to feed your mind with positivity and less worry about if you'll find a job.
I think this job opportunity issue is also based on the individual's capacity. How competent he/she is when the opportunity is there.

Realistically, some are better than others.
That's why you have rankings, grading and rating scales which also is same for humans.

Except you also mean to say that all Nigerian graduates the same

I beg to disagree, NUC have not ranked Nigerian universities for the passed 15 years or more, there is nothing different about Nigeria public universities, same lecturers, same facilities, the only difference is the effort individual students put in.

I have gone around almost 10 Nigeria public universities and i didn't see any difference, same overcrowded class are found in all of them, you will still find lazy lecturers who uses 2010 handout to teach in 2020, i still insist that the only difference is the effort individual students put in making themselves exceptional among others.

Go to schools such as Borno state university, you will see a student that is good than someone in UI, same applies to students in UI.

So the difference is the students, just like you pointed out that graduates these days are not employable.
