First of all before going into dog breeding first answer (to yourself not me) these questions;

1. Have you cared for a dog(pet) before?
2. Do you love dogs(pets)?
3. Do you have lots of spare time or have someone
who has?
4. Do you have space in your environment?
5. Are you financially stable? Not rich but stable income?
6. Hope you have no issues with cleaning up dog
poop, because you will do that alot!

The above questions are your basic needs and preparations towards dog breeding. Then you can start looking for breeds that suits you.

There are different breeds of dogs and they also come in different classifications;

1. Small breed; Chihuahua, Lassa Apso, pug....
2. Medium breed; Chow chow, pit bull, eskimo, collie...
3. Large breed; GSD, Rottweiler, Labrador, golden retriever,
Dobberman pinscher, Belgian Malinois....
4. Giant breed; St. Bernard, Caucasian Ovcharka, Boerboel,
mastiffs, king Shepherd, Shiloh Shepherd, kangal....

In choosing a dog for breeding, size matters. A bigger dog means more time and money spent in feeding, grooming and cleaning but not necessarily more profit. Some small dogs cost alot more than bigger dogs but with less stress. Some Bigger dogs litter more e.g boerboel.

There is alot to factor in when going into dog breeding.
Whichever class you go for, make sure your dog(s) are of good quality. If you can afford a pedigree, then you are better off because the detailed history gives a better price tag.

Pure breed; a dog that has maintained its breed standards, atleast 80% >is good for breeding.

Pedigree; a dogs record of descent (history) showing it to be pure. Most likely they are 100% pure. In Nigeria you can get pedigree from 300-500k or order from abroad.

In Nigeria there is market for all breed classes, from small toy dogs for showing off to large aggressive breeds for security purposes. It depends on what you can care for. Mind you there are no short cuts or easy way in dog breeding, it is financially demanding and time consuming, even for toy dogs.

I am not an expert or professional breeder, i have owned many dogs and grew up around dogs, i am still learning and just used experience in giving my input.

Dog breeding isn't just about making money, you need to spend a lot to make sure your dogs are healthy and active. If you think it's just to cross dogs and sell puppies, then this business isn't for you. We already have more than enough ignorant breeders in Nigeria

bro im definitely not that kind of person,I've loved dogs since I've been a little boy it was only when i was growing did i find out that breeding them is profitable. I know the heavy responsibility in dogs as it is that they can't treat,feed,maintain or train themselves.i just want to know the right breed im considering a boerbull puppy.

Ok. Mastiffs and Shepherd breeds are generally healthy dogs, easy to train and can both be security & family dogs; that's why they are amongst the most popular in Nigeria. All shepherd breeds require more attention when it comes to grooming (especially Long - coats), giving the mastiff breed an advantage.

If you can afford a little extra and get something different go for a Labrador Retriever. I believe they go for more than a boerboel or gsd.

Then go for it. They have many good qualities and getting a purebreed is no longer that hard. But pls do your research and get a good one.

I am a first time Boerboel owner, i have had GSD, Caucasian, a black lab, 2 Rottweilers, samoyed mix, and mongrels (ekuke). I can say the Boerboel is the easiest to care for after the Ekuke. They eat anything and everything and are easy to groom.

Good luck.... There is money to be made!

Go for;
1. pure breed German Shepherd. They are easy to train
and generally very good security dogs and
alarmist.
2. Caucasian Ovcharka. They are massive and inflict fear
because of their size. No special protection training
needed because its already baked in their DNA. But it
needs a firm handler.
3. Dobberman Pinscher. Similar to GSD, but their size is
not scary, until they show you some teeth.
4. Rottweiler. Silent security dogs, who will allow the
intruder to come in without knowing the evil that waits.
With Rotts breaking in is easy, leaving the premises is
where problem dey!

All 4 dogs are good at security, Rotts are best kept at home because they dont bark much, Caucasians are the most dangerous and noisy, good for farms cos they love to roam.
