ON RESUMPTION

As pupils/students are returning, don’t expect them to be the same. Some that were intelligent might not perform as expected, and some might have gone through physical and emotional abuse. They definitely need a relaxed environment to feel confident and comfortable.

Our focus should be to meet learners' needs.

This is not the time to start shouting, getting upset, blaming, or shaming learners.

Be friendly and make yourself accessible, ensure learners feel respected, valued, involved, and connected.

Listen carefully and give great value to what they say. They definitely will be coming with a lot of experiences to share.

Be observant, if you notice anything unusual, ask questions, and show concern about their feelings.

Assist learners to settle in well in academics, by giving them bite-size activities they can accomplish. Then, build on their skills and knowledge in small steady steps. Eventually, they will make progress and be motivated.

Keep on observing, motivating, encouraging, and reassuring your learners, they need a relaxed and emotionally stable environment to
thrive.

Also, keep to the safety guidelines.
