3 Phases Of Gods Will by Joagbaje(m): 7:51am On Feb 23, 2011
Romans 12:2
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what[ is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

From the opening scripture, you will notice the three phases of Gods will.
The perfect will is where God wants us to function. It has to do with his plan for our lives
The acceptable will, has to do with someone who has missed the perfect will, but God still allowed him to function in a plan "B" what he is stuck with is still manageable and acceptable but not the perfect will.
The good will is the general class, it's good thing though, but not Gods plan for the man. E,g  A man who is busy helping a neighbour to clean his house on Sunday morning ,when he ought to be in church is certainly doing a good thing by helping a neighbour but that is not Gods will for him at that time. Many Christian function in the good will. They do things that seem nice but never bother to know Gods plan for them.

Do you know it was not Gods perfect will for Israel to have a king?  The system was supposed to be a Theocratic system where God is king over them.

1 Samuel 8:5-8
5 And said unto him. . .  now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. 6 But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the Lord. 7 And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. 8 According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day.

Even though israel had some great  Kings like David, it is evident that that wasn't God perfect plan for them.

We are responsible for our lives , to ensure that we function in the Perffect will of God for our lives. There is a right person to  marry and there is a wrong person to marry, some people may never fulfil Gods purpose for their lives just because of who they have married,

One of the signs of Christian maturity is your ability to desire to know his perfect plan for us and to walk in it. To be a son is not just by being born again, sonship refers to maturity. It means ;To come of age. Every Christian is not a son. You are born a baby Christian. You grow into sonship.

Romans 8:14
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God

That is why every Christian needs to recieve the holyghost.  Let him be lord over your choices and decisions . Do just do something because they are good, don't just do things because they look acceptable, find Gods perfect plan. In choices of school, job, partner, business. He has a say in our lives, that's the mark of his lordship. Everywhere is not the right place.

Paul on several occasion almost fell into the trap . It was a good thing to preach the gospel but, there is a place to be at a right  time. Several times God had to stop him even from preaching! Because the p,ace he chose was not the right place at that time

 Acts 16:6-7
6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, 7 After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.

That doesn't mean that God didn't want them to go to Asia, but it's wasn't time yet, Because God later told him to go to Asia, several months later and mighty miracles took place.

When you see Christian die anyhow, it's connected to missing Gods plan. God may not protect a man outside his will , but a man that us functioning in purpose, can not be defeated.

For a man to know Gods will, he must constantly have his mind renewed by Gods word, in constant fellowship. If not He will be fluctuating in darkness.

There are mistakes that God give second chance, but there are some that are never reversible. It was not Gods pan for Aaron to be an interpreter for Moses, Ishmael was not in Gods perfect plan for Abraham, Joshua was not in the perfect plan, it wasn't Gods perfect plan for Moses to die in the wilderness . Life is full of choices and descision . That's why you must be filled with the spirit and listen to the inner voice.

But there are a lot of inner voices
How can one discern which is which

The surest way to discern the voice of God directing us in by the word of God, you see the word of God is God is (John 1:1) little wonder the Psalmist said "---Thy word is a lamb unto my feet and a light unto my path---"

Psalms 16:11
"Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasure for evermore" one translation puts it as "---Thy will LEAD ME IN THE PATH OF life---"

God relates with us in various ways as He so wills then by experiential observation through the help of the Holy Spirit as we become increasingly yield we become acquainted with these peculiar ways of His guidance. That's why the book of Hebrews 5:14
"But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their sense exercised to DISCERN both good and evil"

but above all we subject every experience to the scrutiny of the word of God

Romans 12:2 gives credence to this topic:
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God"

but my question is: how can we easily know the will of God on certain contemporary issues that are not unequivocally state in the bible? Topics that borders on issues as; Birth control, cloning, etc

After passing the test of not conforming to the world and mind renewal, divine will of God for a specific purpose is born! but don't forget that God speak to us every day because He lives in us and it's real(John 14:16-17)
but we are too carnal with regards to spiritual gaurdiance,by the time we bring our five senses on the scene then the confussion will set in!

One day my diary is about to fall at busy bus-stop, and te Holy spirit told me as an inner voice,as i was debating it within my self that why would God concerned about my diary, the dairy fell and all the business cards in it scattered to the extent that i have to be removing it under the legs of the crowd, which is exactly what God forsaw and want to avoid for me. Then i learnt that day that God has concern for everything about me,that is why He want to lead us everyday not just for one thing!

The Holy spirit in you will teach all things and guide you into all truths

Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
1Jo 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. {in him: or, in it}
(KJV)

Also, you can talk with your leader in your church, he is annointed for that purpose

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Eph 4:11-12 (KJV)

Remember, not all of them are prophets, moreover, the Holy spirit we be more please and willing to speak to you directly than speaking to an intermidiary, even if He does, it is to confirm what He had already told you!

@JoeAgbaje.God bless you for this topic,it is most timely.

@Olaisrich. You are correct sir.Furthermore, there is that inner witness that is your own spirit which is what God speaks to,this spirit hears from God's Spirit and passes the message to your mind which becomes a thought that's one way God speaks to us His children, infact the most common way.And like a poster said, with time and practice you get to discern sharply the moment the spirit speaks. However, mind renewal MUST come first, after which you MUST yield to the Word of God.

The thread teaches one or two things, though not exactly from that passage.
It can't be said that God's perfect will is not good or not acceptable. It can't be said that any acceptable will of God is not good or not perfect. It can't be said that Indir good is not acceptable or perfect.

this thread is a joke . . . .was romans 12:2 referring to different types of God's will?
