I have been on this forum for quite a while and I noticed a particular trend here. Anytime someone post about his challenges most especially relationship challenges the certain reply given to such person is " Go and make money". This might be the best advice you can give to anyone. But we all know it's not possible to make riches overnight. What do you think has been the implications of this? it has encourage the criminal inclination among our youths. when you have made them believe the only single solution to all there problem is to make money. This will make then is some way justify there greediness and comit some crime. I personally believe the best things of life are free. I just want us to try and look at non- financial values that can make life worth living. Except you are being deluded you won't make any legit money overnight.

You are very correct. Some of them are outrightly even supporting Yahoo and even share so called tools to aid their "hustle". It's not just nairaland, it's the society in general. Like I've said countless times, Nigeria suffers from a serious orientational problem. It's not about the infastructures.

What about the ones that promotes affluent life style of the local celebrities..

They will buy chain or car by instalment maybe, you will see kids adding so many zeros on the price tag u start wondering how much the company that manufactured the goods itself was worth.. not to talk of the product..

Reminds me of a training we did in Nigeria and a participant uploaded carefully editted pictures tagged 'Dubai loading', 'awesome training' bla bla.

I started to think maybe I went to Dubai in spirit.

We really have a gross case of lack of contentment and showoff in all facets of the society.

It has been the new trend on social media not just NL alone.
And it's not helping because money is not everything.

The one that is really annoying is when you see a young man of about 23years coming here to seek advice on how to boost his self esteem and confidence when it comes to approaching ladies and some ITK will start saying 'go and make money'... I mean is that suppose to be the solution? When he grows up to become someone like Ozo(bbnaija), the same people will call him a simp SMH. Money is not the solution to every problem! If you don't have anything reasonable to contribute when you see posts like that, simply ignore and stop putting people under unnecessary pressure.

Op it is called the bitter truth. No matter how much you try to explain it away, having money in today"s world is your only guarantee for anything in Nigeria. If it pushes you to make it in the wrong way that's your own cup of tea because when you suffer the consequences, you would do it alone. However, if you pursue it legally, you would enjoy the benefits. When we talk about making money, we are not saying you should get mansions, what we mean is have a regular source of income and also a plan that would increase this income in the future. No woman in Niaja would see such a man and not fall for him. Unless you want to date the not so good looking ones. Money gives you confidence, your car alone will toast any babe for you. Let's not deceive ourselves. Even people saying money is not everything will not hesitate to curry your favour in secret if given the opportunity.

You needed to see comments that day.

And some simpletons would start nursing grudges against their company because they don't take them for training to Dubai.

Ironically, they might have sent them to Abuja.

Training was in Lagos, few streets from the office. cheesy

But sincerely, if you check the root cause of most of these challenges, money is the major reason.

Yes, money can aid some things but it does not guarantee happiness nor peace nor health nor fulfillment nor a lot of things people see it bringing.
Unfortunately, people that think money is the solution to their issues don’t learn that it’s not till it’s too late. They spend their whole life on that struggle, thinking it’s all they’ll ever need and till the end, it never quite works out.
Don’t forget to live, enjoy your journey and remember to ALWAYS count your blessings.
Never resort to crime because in this life, before you die, you will definitely reap what you sow.

Parents - invest time and effort in your children so that they have the right value system. The truth is that in life, we often don’t need as much as we want.

The thing is Nigerians are too fucking hypocritical. They talk with both sides of their mouth.

On one hand, they'll castigate the likes of hushpuppi, while on the other side they'll indirectly criticize people doing honest work cos they don't make much.
It's almost like they're trying to insult people's intelligence.

It's in this same nairaland that a young guy who finishes poly and got a job as a firm supervisor or something, I really can't recall, but the nigga was comfortable and wasn't begging, yet over 80% of people who commented were castigating him, telling him to hustle and how he wasn't doing enough.

Make e go tif? Abeg we deserve our leaders joor. Most of the people criticizing the government are only pissed off cos they're not getting a piece of the cake. Give them and they would Praises that even David would be shocked.

One thing I've come to understand is to pay attention to what people don't say and not what they say

I dey vex abeg! We're too hypocritical (OP, even you and I are not spared). If we don't fix our mentality, Nigeria will be the same in the next 50 Years

The family structure is also a big challenge. The comments I read sometimes tells that many parents failed in their responsibility of raising responsible children. Unfortunately, the future generation might suffer more because we can't give what we do not have.
