I believe it depends on the condition of the mind/spirit in question.

First things first, we need to clear the air about who Heaven is for and who it is not for. All those who believe in Jesus Christ have eternal life gifted them, meaning there is an afterlife waiting for them on the other side of death, and the decision as to where they spend their eternity is dependent on work done or not done while still alive.
Heaven is the final abode for those who believe in and obey the commandments of Jesus Christ, the New Covenant/agreement between God and man. Who is Hell for? Hell is for those who believe in Jesus Christ but refuse to obey His commandments, the New Covenant/agreement between God and man.
So, what about those who do not even believe in God or Jesus Christ at all? Well, those people simply return to dust when they die... there is no afterlife for unbelievers and so no eternity to look forward to.

Back to the topic of suicides. There are reasons for wanting to take one's life, albeit not always valid reasons for those who don't understand such things, and God looks at the heart of man cause that is where all decisions are made after all.

For those who are broken i.e. the mentally ill, the incapable...it is my belief that God Himself knows of them and has a place for them in His Kingdom. Hence, whenever I read the verse "Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of God", I am comforted.
On the other hand, unbelievers who end up committing suicide for one reason or another will simply be quickening the process that is the grave for them... no heaven after all for those who do not believe.
As for those who believe, well, for those who refuse God, and kill themselves in order to avoid guilt or pain that they have caused, well, I believe it is still Hell for them.
