GOVERNOR Adebayo Alao-Akala of Oyo State, on Wednesday, signed the 2011 budget into law, declaring that his administration would ensure a faithful implementation of the provisions of the budget.

The governor, while signing the N148.7 billion 2011 appropriation, as approved by the state House of Assembly, at the Governor’s Office, noted that the budget was the last one in the first term of his administration, adding that its success would depend largely on the funds available to the state.

He lamented the mono-economic status of the country, saying that dependence on oil and the monthly federal allocation had been affecting the implementation of budget over the years, but promised that his administration would vigorously pursue other alternatives.

“2011 is a transition year from one administration to another one. But we will see to the faithful implementation of the 2011 budget. We are not going to rely solely on oil, whose price has continually been fluctuating, even in the world market.

“We will aggressively pursue our internally generated revenue (IGR) to ensure the success of the budget. With its provisions and programmes, it is a budget that will put smile on the faces of the people of the state.

“But I will implore the people to jealously guard the various public projects in their domains. These are projects executed with hard-earned public money and our people should not see them as government projects, but as projects that were executed for their benefit,” he said.

To use the word "hate" does not capture my deep seated dislike for Akala's administration since he became the governor. Everything about him speaks "foul". If there is any politician who ought to have been executed with a gun placed under his Penis, then it should be this guy.
Did I hear him say "put smile on people's face" Hell no, he will put smile on all of those corrupt people who brought him to office. He has no idea to move the state forward. I find it funny him saying he "will aggressively pursue the internally generated revenue (IGR) to ensure the success of the budget". I remembered this guy had F9 in Economics and Government despite the fact that he paid to write SSCE. Somebody help me call "thief" 'Ole' 'Barawo'

even the other aspirant are not better than him, majority of this politicians are just trying to gain more popularity by criticizing this man whereas they themselves can not even perform better i.e. ladoja, ajimobi etc. They are all of the same breed just looking for a parties to achieve their ambition. Oyo state needs the intervention of a governor who will transform the state not all this politicians who had already entered one agreement or the other just to achieve their political goal.

mind you, most of the Governorship aspirants we have in Oyo state are not in the position to effect any changes. they are all the same. Talk of Ladoja that produces Akala or Ajimobi that was a federal senator for eight years or the incumbent himself. Who among them can do it.

Akala must be a genius. He won the the primaries with every delegate voting for him with the exception of only 1 - thus winning 99.9999% of the votes. He enjoys the support of the political elite fo Oyo state, majority of the electorate supports him, agberos love him, awon iya alata adour him.

It appears as if you internet rascals may be the minority who oppose this man, sadly you are impotent. I'm quite sure most of you are not even registered to vote. awon olodo

That is just it, I am not a fan of Akala but I have taken a critical look at this man and I knew he was not as bad as his opponent always make people to believe and they themselves can even be worse than him when they get to office
