I am so grateful for this forum and as a way to pay it forward, I am willing to share and walk you through how to get licensed to practice law in Ontario. I grew up in Nigeria and moved to Ontario, Canada where I studied law.

I have gone through the law licensing process in Ontario successfully and am available to help anyone who will like to do same.

Congrats and well done.

Did you study law at undergraduate or post graduate level in Canada?

What does the licensing process entail?

Thank you. It was post graduate. I wish I could send a recording, the talk is plenty.

I studied law in the UK and Canada. If she studied in Nigeria, she will be required to take certain exams, called the NCAs in order to begin her licensing process. I will try to provide responses, Feel free to ask more questions.

Can this exam you mentioned be taken from Nigeria or one has to be Physically present in Canada to take this exam. Also, what is the cost of this exam and how long does it take to get qualified. Lastly, how lucrative is the legal practice in Canada.

The cost is determined by how many exams you are assessed for. People are assessed for between 4-9 exams. You will need to visit the website of the National Committee on Accreditation for more information on assessment. The more exams you will need to write, the more you have to pay. You pay per exam.

You have to be physically present in Canada to take the exams. To be honest, the entire process from beginning to end can be expensive, but if you take it one day at a time, it is an easier pill to ingest.
