A Little Write Up About Mindset by Firstb0rn(m): 5:02pm On Sep 11, 2020
Reminiscing about a lot of things lately, I've come to realize our mind has a lot to do with us more than we can fathom

I wrote an article about four years ago which I published on my blog and few other blogs and forums. I tagged it "Winning isn't everything" I was inspired by an old secondary school friend of mine who enrolled in karate/takwando class and went for a tournament, he went far for someone who's height is quite a disadvantage to his karate. He spoke about how fulfilled he felt getting to participate in such tournament even though he didn't win. I wrote in that article how most popular reality show, talent hunt winners don't get to achieve much but the runner ups become exceptional people in life. In my article, I talked about the winners having the perception of wanting to win as their ultimate goal which they achieved eventually which made them relaxed and eased about other things in their choice of career but the runner ups feeling the need to compensate their inability to win forge ahead stronger. One thing I unintentionally omitted is "the mind" or let me say "mindset" and how powerful it is.

Steve Maraboli said and I quote "Once your mindset changes, everything on the outside will change along with it". The mind is a very powerful tool in every aspect of life. My younger brother once asked me why we get more tensed to urinate as soon as we're close to the rest room and sometimes we might end up dropping few urine droplets on our dress if so pressed. I was younger when I realized it's my head, it's my mind playing a trick on me, so whenever I'm pressed and I'm close to the rest room, I'll just program my mind to make it look like the rest room is still far ahead and it works for me everytime. What makes pain turture and also training in another case is the mindset towards it. No one can actually gets you angry without twisting your mind first. When you get angry, it starts from the mind then followed my actions and reactions. You can't get seduced by a lady if your mind is channeled to liking boys/men. When asking ladies out, guys will say words to twist and turn the lady's mind and she probably starts feeling a thing or two. My guys call it "finger her brain"... Lol. I really want to focus on a particular aspect of this topic because it's so broad.

Your mindset towards life: Just this Monday, I was surfing the internet and mysteriously, I kept stumbling on profile pages of my old friends and secondary school mate. "Omo guys don dey successful gan o" I said to myself. That moment, I started feeling like I've not done much in life, like I'm lagging behind or something. It got me and I started feeling down. Like, after a decade of leaving secondary school, still battling with getting my Bsc settled even though I've completed two National Diplomas in different courses. I started feeling down. Not too long, someone chatted me up on Whatsapp telling me we just lost a friend and colleague. That got me even harder because I saw the deceased just few weeks back. He was full of life and we talked about a lot of things we would achieve in the "Graphics Industry". But unfortunately for him, he died without achieving it. It was then I realized how lucky I was to be alive hitting my goals at my own pace.

Our mindset can either enslave or liberate us depending on how it's used. One can be living their own flat and still jealous someone living in a face-me-i-face-you apartment. One can be living in a mansion and still aspire to own an estate. It all has to do with the mind. We can channel our mindset to be contented and at the same time thirst to forge ahead. The winners of those reality shows and talent hunts were probably satisfied and relaxed about their newly acquired status "Winner" "Champion" and forgot the end of one is the beginning of another unlike the runner ups who will probably do better because they ventured into other things because they had the mindset of a winner even though they didn't win. YOUR MINDSET IS THE KEY TO MENTAL LIBERATION OR OTHERWISE, GUARD IT.

My writing skills is a bit rusty because it's been years I wrote but I really want to inspire someone out there. You can still be great, you can do better, don't stop now, don't quit, don't take your life, don't stop aspiring, don't be relaxed, don't stop dreaming big, even bigger. Change that mindset today.

I really enjoyed reading this wonderful piece . Our mindset at every point in life determines what we can or can not do. It's like those with the problem of procrastination, it's the mind playing the tricks on them.

Thanks for this .
