OFFICIAL RESULTS: Obaseki Is Leading Ize-iyamu By Over 80,000 Votes. by divieq17: 9:33am On Sep 20, 2020
Incumbent Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki sprung into a commanding lead Sunday morning as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) started to announce results of polls conducted across the state on Saturday.

As expected by many, Obaseki’s closest challenger is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

The results of 13 local governments have already been announced by the electoral commission with Obaseki, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), clinching 11.

Five local governments’ results are still yet to be released.

A quick summation of the votes awarded to Obaseki in 13 local governments stood at 243,604, while Ize-Iyamu’s was 154,192.

Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party has recorded more votes from the results of the 13 Local Governments declared so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Although 17 political parties have fielded candidates for the election, it is a two-way race between All Progressives Congress and PDP.

Incumbent Governor Obaseki of PDP ran against APC standard-bearer Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Obaseki was elected on APC’s platform in 2016 but defected to the PDP after being denied the ticket owing to intra-party squabbles.

The PDP scored 240,935 while APC had 154, 192 votes from the declared results in the 13 LGAs.

Obaseki is leading Ize-Iyamu by a wide margin of over 80,000 votes.

The election held in 18 Local Government Areas, 192 Wards, and 2,627 polling units.

Yes ,you may have a point but arriving at perfection is a gradual process. At least the defeat to "godfather-ism" will send a clear signal to the political moneybags that the masses, electorate have the POWER to decide who leads them and not the other way round.
