I recently came across a question by someone who is finding it difficult trusting God.

He asked, "how can I trust someone (God) who let His own Son die so He could save some other persons? How am I sure He won't let me die someday to save others if I become His son today?"

If this question and similar others has been a major challenge to you, I encourage you to try as much as you can to read this to the end and also pay a close attention while you are on it.

Let's go on with the answer...

The ideology that God sent His Son and watched Him die without doing anything, so He could save some other unrelated persons, is an ideology that needs proper explanation. Else, we will end up misrepresenting God like He has been all over the world today and pushing humanity farther from Him.

To fully understand why the Son of God had to die, it is very vital you first understand the term "Son of God" so you won't be having a different concept of the term whereas the Bible talked about it in another.

When the Bible spoke of Jesus as the Son of God, it is not like the way we use the term when talking about male children and their fathers or parents today.

In the world that we live in, a Child is called the son of another when he is biologically fathered by that person. By biological here, I mean the male sex gamate of a man has to unite with that of a woman to cause that to happen.

Another way that occurs in our world today is by adoption.

However, when the scriptures spoke of Jesus as the Son of God, the scriptures aren't talking about two different persons- father and son. No! Jesus did not become the Son of God as a result of God's sperm cell fusing with that of another being. That's not the way it happened. God is not a man, does not have the make up of a man, and therefore couldn't have fathered a son in the way that men do.

When the Bible spoke of the Son of God, it is talking about the aspect or part of God that took on flesh as a man and manifested among men so He could do for them what they couldn't do for themselves- salvation from sin and the dominion of Satan!

Here's how the Bible puts it...

"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." (1 Timothy 3:16)

In another place, it explains it like this...

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...

...And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1:1, 14)

Did you notice how the Bible called him the begotten of the Father after he was made flesh? Or after he took on flesh?

That is to show you that that term is merely what humans called God after He appeared as man to live among them.

So my point is, that Son of God who died for man is not a different entity from God the Father. He is rather the same God whom we call the Father lowering himself to the point of being a man (the one we call the Son), out of love, to die in man's place.

Through His death, He ended the power of sin and Hell once and for all. That is forever!

No other person has to die again to redeem man from sin. That's because the death of the God-Man took care of it completely forever!

"For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified...

...Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin." (Hebrews 10:14, 18)

So the question is, would not rather trust a God who became a man for your sake to save you from sin and it's penalties which you can never on your own save yourself from?

Would you not rather trust a God who loved you so much to the point of identifying Himself with your nature and instead of being called God, men called Him the Son of God, a title He gladly took for your sake in line with His mission of saving you from sin and destruction?

Would you not rather trust a God who died for you to live, paid for your sins so His own righteousness would be given to you as a gift once you believe in Him?

You won't have to work for that righteousness, forgiveness of sins and all of His blessings. Not even for a second.

Would you not rather trust such a God?

I'll leave the answer to you. But I pray you make the wise choice of believing in Him as your Lord and Saviour. That's all it takes. That's all He had ever wanted from you. Every other thing is secondary.
