FarahAideed: Every government since Babangida has been trying to sell off that monstrosity called NNPC but none had the guts to do it till now. Now that carbon fuel is going out of fashion its pricing will be lower than it could have been. They can sell it to whosoever they like so long as they pay top dollar for it. The wealth still lies with whoever is the ultimate owner of the minerals under the ground and the licensing. 1 Like |

Submit bills to end importation of refined crude oil and building of our own refineries. Send a bill to stop govt officials from travelling abroad for medical treatment and create a bill to revamp our health sector through monies gotten from fuel and electricity increment. |

When countries are disinvesting from public corporation, our president is still proposing a company to be solely owned by government. Where is Nigeria Airways, where is daily Times, where is NITEL etc. Countries that want economic development create conducive atmosphere for businesses to strive. These things are not working here because of corruption. Open up the oil and gas sector and allow private individuals to come in and invest. 1 Like |

PIB: NNPC to be Commercialised, Better Deal for Host Communities, Says Sylva editorSeptember 28, 2020 9:43 Pm By Deji Elumoye The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Hon Timipre Sylva, has said the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) will not be scrapped but commercialised if the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) is passed into law. Sylvia, who spoke with newsmen on Monday evening after a closed-door meeting with the leadership of the National Assembly, declared: “I have heard so much noise about NNPC being scrapped, that is not envisaged in the bill at all”. Rather, he said the “NNPC will be commercialised, if at the end of the day the PIB was passed by the National Assembly and assented to by the President”. The Minister also hinted that government through the new bill aims to develop the mid stream of the oil sector. Said he: “If you are talking about transforming the industry, the new thing we are developing is the mid stream. That is the pipeline sector, that sector in the mid stream and the downstream because the framework is not fully developed. So we have provided robustly for the growth of the midstream sector.” On other details of the PIB, Sylvia hinted that host oil communities “have the best deal and its details you would hear in the next few days”. He added that the bill will take care of the PEF while the PPPRA will not exist in the form it is today. https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2020/09/28/pib-nnpc-to-be-commercialised-better-deal-for-host-communities-says-sylva/ |

And who is the Min. Of Petroleum? Nonsense and ingredients. The bill states that the NNPC Limited will be incorporated by the Minister of Petroleum, who together with his finance counterparts, will determine NNPC’s assets and liabilities that will be inherited by the new firm. Section 54(1, 2 and3 )) reads in part, “The Minister (of Petroleum) and the Minister of Finance shall determine the assets, interests and liabilities of NNPC to be transferred to NNPC Limited or its subsidiaries and upon the identification, the minister shall cause such assets, interests and liabilities to be transferred to NNPC Limited. |
