Settling Into Ireland As An International Student | What You Need To Know by Lifeofgabbyz: 6:23pm On Sep 30, 2020
Hello Everyone,

In my recent YouTube video i made mention of certain things i think international students who will be studying in ireland should know when they arrive regarding settling into the country and what you need to know. These are some of the things i learnt while settling into Ireland and you do not have to do exactly what i did but most of them are very important.

You can watch my YouTube video here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxP1JugZomQ

for a more in-depth explanation or you can read the short version below.

Let’s jump into this no long talk

So i talked about it in five different sections

Section 1
Sim Card/Internet

If you prefer data bundles over international calls then you should get 3 mobile but if you prefer international calls over data bundles then you should get Lycamobile. There are other service providers but i am more familiar with these two.

Section 2
Accommodation

The requirements for getting a house or an apartment varies depending on the location, the amenities as well as the type of house that you are getting. But some of the documents that i submitted for my house are copy of passport document, letter of reference from someone who resides in Ireland, proof of financial capability etc.

Section 3
Immigration

Get all your documents ready for your immigration appointment. You are required to pay a fee of €300 at your immigration appointment and only bank card is accepted.

Section 4
Bank

Before you can open a bank account you need to have a valid address, a letter from your school and other documents and it takes 3-7 business days excluding bank holidays before your account is active. Your ATM card takes roughly two weeks and the bank will send that to you.

Section 5
Work

To get paid when you start working you will need your PPS number and to get your PPS number you must have been employed because you will need to go with your employment letter for your PPS application. There is another way to get your PPS number if you are yet to find a job but you will have to watch the video for a more in-depth explanation because i share more secrets there.
