Personally, I've had it up to here with Nigerians who are so eager to lavish praise on every other society but theirs. For presidential candidates, that's a no-no and a complete turn-off.

THE presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu,  has called on politicians to adopt Ghana’s democatic process as a model

Ribadu spoke while receiving the former President of Ghana, Mr John Kufour, in his Campaign Organisation in Abuja .

The Ghanaian former president led the International Republican Institute (IRI), an international pre-election assessment delegation, on a four-day mission to Nigeria .

Ribadu said: “Ghana got it right before us. They got their independence first before us. They had a sucessful general elections in the past. We need to follow suit.''

“My problem is not with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) . It is with the politicians. Let them know it is not a matter of do or die elections.”

He  praised IRI, saying it made a good choice by choosing Kufour to lead the delegation in its mission, adding that it was done at a time Nigeria needed global  support.

“I must say, IRI, you have done a wonderful job so far. The choice of Mr John Kufour was right.This is the time we need friends form all around the world. The good people of the world need to stand by Nigeria now,” he said.

Please think of other creative things to write bout instead of trying to create unnecessary propaganda. The Ribadu/Adeola ticket is the only solution to the problems in Nigeria. So what if he hails Ghana as been champions of true democracy? He only stated the truth, Ghana has gotten it right as regards credible elections and stable transition in government. We always have to fast and pray for credibility even when conducting a local government election, which we all know are usually marred by acts of violence. please dont raise an issue over RIbadu's comments, it dosent matter if he was speaking to a Republican or Democrat group.

Excellent post. The poster just displays the usual arrogance that disturbs some Nigerians with how they can never give credit where it is due. If Ribadu humbly posits that we can learn from the democratic success of Ghana what is wrong with That ? How has he "sucked up to Ghana" ? Even if many Nigerians have issues with Ghanaians and vice versa does it not amount to self-deciet if we cannot graciously give Ghanaians praises for doing a particular thing better than us ? I would think such humility will endear Ribadu to Nigerians more because he displays a hunger and vision to gain solutions , since that is what matters ultimately to real leaders , rather than pander to pettiness like some myopic Nigerians who think they have nothing at all to learn from certain "small" Nations.

When Obama was running for election, where did you see him criticise his country before foreign leaders, directly or indirectly, or publicly state the US had 'a lot to learn' from another country?
